Daja McLaurin Benton is a Baltimore, Maryland Native with a host of experiences that allows her to optimize the needs of her clients through accounting and financial advisory. As a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park Daja’s passion for numbers began in 2017 when she acquired a position at a local bank all while being a full-time student. Post graduation, Daja started her career at a big four accounting firm where she discovered her ability to dissect the world of taxes through a corporate lens. With such a high-level overview of her field, she then recognized the need to inflict change at a local level and began working on her dream of being an entrepreneur who could add value to the lives of others within the world of accounting.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While there have been many challenges on the journey of being a business owner, I have found great joy in understanding what it takes to build valuable systems that work for my business. Trusting others with your business can be quite the challenge, and personally I struggled with believing that I needed a team to reach new heights. After overcoming that, I find that I can spend more time truly building the business. Going from working in the business to working on it is the biggest way you can truly create a vision to generate growth.
