Exploring Life & Business with Kristin Dwan of The Healing Woods

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Dwan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I began my work with Spiritual Advising at the tender age of 14, when I picked up my first Tarot Deck and started learning all I could about their meanings and symbols.

In my 20’s I learned how to harness my intuition through working with the Elementals and meditation and not solely relying on the cards for guidance, and really opened up to speaking with people’s guides to get the information they needed to hear.

In 1998, dying and coming back to life in a fire really set me on the path of knowing I was here for a reason and introduced me to Reiki. I literally ran through a wall of flames to escape my burning bedroom and ended up in a burn ward for a month, receiving multiple skin grafts on the 3rd degree burns that covered 30% of my body.

It was during the first skin grafting surgery that my heart stopped on the table, and I had to be resuscitated. At that moment, I was outside of my body and aware that a decision was made by my Higher Self to come back to my body and live life in a completely different way.

It was a quick recovery once I was Divinely introduced to Reiki, and knew that I was given my life back to help others in a deep way through my online healing business I have built called The Healing Woods.

For the past 30 years, I have learned more and more about working with people on multiple levels as a Spiritual Advisor, not only through Tarot and Reiki…but also working with them on the Subconscious level as a Certified Hypnotherapist with over 2,500 hours of training under her belt, and a Certified Calling In The One Coach trained for a full year deep dive by Katherine Woodward Thomas herself.

I only choose to learn modalities that literally save my life and offer them at The Healing Woods.

Reiki – Saved my life after the fire, allowing me to heal much more quickly than if I was to just have a skin graft after skin graft in the burn ward. I published the book, “Baptism By Flame – 10 Steps to Ignite Your Light Within” about how exactly Reiki came to me in the burn ward not through a person but through Divine Intervention. Hypnotherapy – Saved my life through my Cancer diagnosis and treatment. I am now 100% Cancer free and got that way through focusing on what I wanted within my recovery, married with the Western Medicine surgery I needed to cut the Cancer out. I also used Self Hypnosis to release 160 pounds naturally and went from not being able to walk around my house without getting winded to being able to hike 10 miles up and down mountains 5 times a week.

Calling In The One Coaching – This is beautiful Shadow Work that takes you all the way back to childhood and how you learned to be loved and have taken whatever hurt happened then to be a pattern of how love is for you now. Doing this work on my own allowed me to truly fall in love with who I am and know what I deserve within love, which is something we all should learn whether we are married, single or otherwise involved with people. This work helped heal and strengthen me emotionally, and I have a huge passion for helping others fall in love with themselves.

Tarot and Akashic Readings – While they have not saved my life, they are a beautiful way for me to connect spirit to spirit with my clients and get to know them better. They also allow for us to see how I can help them more deeply using the 3 powerhouse modalities above.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My life has been quite a bumpy and sometimes scary road, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

If it weren’t for me dying and coming back to life from the fire like a true Phoenix, I would still be merely existing day to day in life working a job that drained me each day and surrounding myself with people who did the same.

Back then, I hated myself, hated love and hated my life.

Today I have created a life and work I love and have a passion for. I love myself and celebrate each day I wake up alive and finally thriving instead of merely existing day to day.

For 15 years, I built The Healing Woods alongside working a super challenging job in the advertising industry. It was through this management job I raised myself up to in the ad world that I went to a boot camp of sorts of how to build my own business, serve clients and express myself in front of audiences.

I am happy to report that I am now going on 13 years strong of having The Healing Woods be my only work in life, and I have successfully released the need of a day job.

I now have my soul’s work to do in life, and couldn’t be happier.

One aspect I love of my soul’s work is helping other healers and mystics build their businesses to help them with the transition of doing their important work full-time instead of in between day jobs.

The world is in need of more healers and mystics…and each and every one has their own medicine they bring to the world, and it is my honor to help a fellow healer build their abundant heart-based business which will in turn, help the world even more.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Healing Woods is a place people seek out in order the find peace.

I named my practice The Healing Woods after my own peace that I have found since childhood in visiting and exploring the ancient Redwood Forests of Humboldt County in the Northern tip of California.

I work with people literally all over the world via Zoom since the Pandemic and have been delighted to see the huge shifts in people globally instead of pre-pandemic when I was just seeing people locally.

In fact, my local clients who have transitioned to online are reporting that they are able to let go and experience even deeper levels of healing from the comfort of their own beds and enjoy not having to drive home after our sessions.

I believe that what sets me apart from others is how much I have been through in my lifetime and what I have had to battle not only medically with the Cancer and 3rd Degree Burns but also emotionally with clawing my way out of a deep hole of depression and suicidal thoughts and mentally with the huge shifts I created within myself through Hypnotherapy to kill my old eating patterns and completely transform myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

I have been through a lot, and because of that, can meet my clients RIGHT where they are, and if they are in a very dark place, I know my way around that darkness well because I have been through it myself.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I highly suggest testing people out before diving into huge packages and year-long commitments with them.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who have taken one-weekend course or even a one-hour course on something and then turn around and call themselves an expert online.

Everything I have learned, I go to the next level with…always.

I have been studying different forms of Reiki and going deeper with it for 25 years now.

I graduated with honors from a Hypnotherapy College with over 2,500 hours of training and went into a deep year-long training for coaching which took 7 hours a week of training/practice, not counting the ten books I read to go deeper within the work.

My motto in life is go deep or go home, and I live that daily.
