Exploring Life & Business with Jessica Lupian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Lupian.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At 10 years old I remember my parents struggling to purchase their first home in my hometown, Watsonville. We had lived in a mobile home for several years and lived in my grandparent’s converted garage for most of my childhood. In order to purchase a home their only option at the time was to move 7 hours south to a more affordable city, Palm Desert. Several years later they were able to purchase a secondary home and build an additional unit to make their first rental property.

After some misfortunes, they had to file for bankruptcy and lost their primary house – OUR HOME. Aside from their financial problems, I began to wonder what was missing when it came to owning, managing a property, and building a lifestyle of financial freedom.

After high school, I began visiting the library to read books on entrepreneurship and real estate. The book, Rich Dad Poor Dad was the first book that stood out to me and that was when the art of real estate was introduced to me. I then realized what my parents had been missing…knowledge and education. I wanted to learn all there was to know about real estate, financial freedom and building wealth.

After several years of rediscovering myself, passions, and growth I found the perfect opportunity to finally get my license and pursue my real estate career. Four years after working in the real estate industry I was able to purchase my first rental property, a duplex. The following year it was time for me to make another move and I earned my broker’s license!

For almost 3 years now I’ve been an independent Real Estate Broker and owner of my own brokerage in Pasadena, CA.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My journey hasn’t been easy. I still face many challenges and obstacles but I’ve learned to appreciate the growth and understanding that comes from them. Most of my struggles have been learning where to begin, building a system, and staying consistent. Also, saying no to people and setting boundaries. I’ve learned to embrace the struggles, adapt quickly, stay true to my purpose and to push forward. I started working when I was thirteen years old. I learned very quickly to use my determination, ambition, and hard-working skills to get to the next level/promotion/job.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jessica Lupian Real Estate?
Helping people reach their real estate and financial goals is extremely rewarding to me. I know a lot of people that struggle financially and have a hard time obtaining homeownership as my parents did, and I love that I am able to provide information and resources to help them achieve their goals. To be able to connect people to a valuable resource, show them how to save money for a down payment, increase their credit score, make a home improvement, or to keep a family from defaulting on their home is the least I can do.

Buying a home is one of the biggest financial transactions one will ever make in their lifetime and I hope to play a part by giving them information they can use to help make the best decision for themselves and their future. I’ve managed over 500 residential closed sales transactions and have gained so much experience that can only help benefit my clients. I’ve had the pleasure of representing different types of clients including first-time home buyers, first-time home sellers, rental income investors, and rehab investors.

I enjoy serving people, helping and building community. For 3 years now I’ve volunteered as a committee member for my local Realtor Association and for local non-profit organizations. I also participate in a Broker-only bi-monthly meeting held by the California Association of Realtors to keep up with current times, trends, and encourage change when deemed necessary.

In the last year, my personal life has added a new role to my business that has elevated my branding from a Realtor/Broker to a mama entrepreneur. My husband and I were blessed with a son, Leonardo. I was strictly focused on being the perfect mom soon after he was born and only wanted to stay home. After 4 months I began getting a feeling of urgency. Becoming a mother led me to rediscover my purpose, my identity, and my reasons as to why I do this work. I was soon back in my office working but now with my son next to me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Both good and bad luck have played a part throughout my journey. Thankfully, mostly good. Luck has been on my side with helping me find my way and crossing paths with good people. I can’t say all were great experiences but enough to help me learn and grow. I’ve had the pleasure of working side-by-side with some of the most influential entrepreneurs and experienced Real Estate Professionals to learn from.
