Exploring Life & Business with Chantal Reyna of Movement Mortgage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantal Reyna.

Hi Chantal, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Initially it all came together on its own. I was right out of school, had moved back to Orange County, replied to an ad in the paper (I’m definitely dating myself here J) and started working for a small mortgage broker in Irvine. At the time I didn’t know anything about the industry or that I would build a career in mortgage financing. I have great memories from those early days. It didn’t take long to get swept up in the excitement of a thriving industry and learn the value of owning real estate – especially in Southern California.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. I was incredibly naïve when I first got into the mortgage industry and was not prepared for any kind of market shift – let alone the 2008 real estate crash. That had a massive impact on our economy, property I owned, and of course my livelihood. I had no idea how I was going to move forward or rebuild. Many of us at the time went into survival mode. The landscape for mortgage financing was forever changed. It was also a time of major growth. The focus of my business changed to creating relationship, being an advisor to my clients and helping them build generational wealth through real estate. Last year was one of my most successful years as a mortgage loan officer and being able to help my younger brother and sister buy their first homes was the highlight. It’s been an incredible journey.

We’ve been impressed with Movement Mortgage, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I appreciate that. Movement Mortgage focuses on making a difference in our communities. We’re very aware of the footprint we leave – especially being in a financial industry. My team and I focus on a holistic approach with our clients. Each person is unique and has difference circumstances, we take all of that into consideration when consulting them on making the largest financial purchase of their life. My absolute favorite is that we simplify the mortgage process and eliminate the stress. We’re able to close their loan from start to finish in 2 to 3 weeks. That can give our clients serious leverage in a competitive real estate market like today. More than ever it’s important to have guidance when you’re thinking about financing a home.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that we’re so close to the water. I live on the Westside and my office is in El Segundo so I drive Vista del Mar to and from. I am in awe of the ocean. The beauty. Abundance. It’s ability to shift my mood. The sunsets are unreal. It really doesn’t get any better. My dislike, the traffic. Is that too cliché?
