Daily Inspiration: Meet Germôna Sharp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Germôna Sharp.

Hi Germôna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Originally, I’m from Pittsburgh, PA and I actually currently reside in Raleigh, NC. I got my start with entertaining by watching my family sing and dance and learning that I have a deep background when it comes to performance. As I got older, I was in Chorus and trained with teachers to craft my voice. I got into acting a little later (high school) and from there, I just kept going.

I always saw myself as a full on entertainer that could do anything and I knew I would need to practice in order to achieve the best me. I am blessed to have as many opportunities come my way now and be able to have people know who I am and respect me for my talent and craft. Currently, I’m doing a mixture of both singing and acting and working to balance those out as best I can but I enjoy every minute of it and hope to go further.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not, that’s to be expected though. I’ve been broke and severely depressed but I always pushed myself to create during those time me of uncertainty. It worked for me in a way but I would definitely suggest seeking outside help to get your mind in a place where you are functioning at a healthy level. Singing, acting, dancing, and writing has always been my ways of expression. I was bullied really bad as a kid and I was shy. My confidence wasn’t the best due to the bullying but I eventually pulled through with the help from my dad and the energy I put in my art, I found my voice.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a vocalist, songwriter, actress, writer and I am getting more into producing and directing. My main things are singing and acting and I’m pretty much known for my singing and acting as of right now. My writing has gotten me a lot of notoriety as well. I am most proud of all of my creative ventures. I put a lot into my work and make sure it’s up to par before I deliver it to the public. There are a few things that I could critique but that’s me just being a perfectionist. What sets me apart from others is just being me. No one else can be me, they can try to do what I do but it’s impossible.

What matters most to you? Why?
The well being of my dad and making sure he is proud of me and happy.
