Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Franco.
Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a mama of three who’s had a passion for parties since I was a little girl. I was always known for going above and beyond for my kid’s parties and holidays. In 2014 after my first child’s 1st birthday party, I played around with the idea of event styling. I created a separate Instagram account for my parties, gained a few hundred followers… but slowly allowed fear and the opinions of others prevent me from going for it. After being told the industry is too saturated and that I wouldn’t be successful, I chose to stay in corporate. I jumped from job to job – never satisfied and never felt like I had a place in any of the companies I was a part of. I would find myself daydreaming of my kids’ parties and journal about the event business I would have someday.
In mid-2021, a traumatic event happened within my family. It was then that I realized that for almost a decade, I have been walking through life just going through the motions and lost sight of what lights me up. I then decided to work on myself from the inside out. I dove into personal development and worked on my mindset & slowly grew confidence within myself. Six months later, December 2021, it then hit me that I needed to go after my dream. I journaled some ideas for business names and thus, Hello Soiree was born. I connected to this name instantly and went all in with it. January 2022, I made it official and turned Hello Soiree into an LLC. I went to work on creating content for my hardly touched party Instagram account. I had about 400 followers at the time and had absolutely no engagement on my content. I didn’t have a plan of how I would attract clients or how I would market myself, I just knew I was going to show up every single day.
In the beginning, I did a lot of free work in order to get my name out there. However, after only one month in business – I had six events for February! Our weekends were booked and our IG account kept growing! As we were growing, my time and attention were dedicated more and more to Hello Soiree and less on my corporate job. It was then I had to choose between my career or Hello Soiree. March 7th, I left my 9-5 job to work 24/7 on my dream. Later that month – Hello Soiree hit 1,000 followers. After that, things just started progressing & the momentum was building. Inquiries coming left and right, bookings every single weekend, replacing my corporate income completely. Only 6 months later, Hello Soiree hit 30,000 followers.
To this day, I always reflect where I was a year ago and even 8 months ago. I did not have a plan or an idea of where we would be today. I just had a vision and I wasn’t going to let anything stop me from achieving that. I am still learning day by day about this industry. I now work insane hours. My weekends are crazy busy. My weekdays are consumed with prepping for events. But I am loving every single second of it. I dreamt of these exact days… and sometimes I cannot believe I am actually living it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every week there seems to be something new to overcome. I am still learning how to manage and run my own business while learning the ins & outs of this industry. In the beginning, we were struggling to find clients and how to grow. However, I think one of our biggest struggles is learning how to have work/life balance, especially as just a team of two. My husband and I have three young kids who are in various activities and until we have the ability to expand our team, juggling the work/life balance is going to be the biggest challenge while still maintaining normality for the kids’ lifestyle. It takes a village though – we wouldn’t be able to do it without our families’ constant support. Although many parents face this challenge of wanting to pursue their dreams while prioritizing their family and kids, it is doable and I want to be a testament of that for others to know it is possible with a strong community around you.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Hello Soiree takes an event concept and creates an upscale set-up that WOWS people. We specialize in intimate celebrations from gender reveals, baby & bridal showers, proposals, anniversaries, & birthdays. We primarily focus on unique backdrops, props, & eye-catching balloon services. We treat every event with the utmost attention & help determine color schemes, layouts, signage, props – every little detail needed to create the most dreamy soiree. I am most proud of the growth that we have had within this industry. This industry is pretty saturated and can be a little intimidating, but I do believe with hard work, dedication, and CONSISTENCY – any business can grow and stand out within their industry.
Although I specialize in balloons and backdrops, I also want to empower other designers to believe in themselves and show up for themselves every day. I want all of us to grow and be successful in this industry. Truly at the end of the day, Hello Soiree is all about community over competition. I love watching other event businesses thrive and gain confidence through my own journey. At the end of the day, I’m Brittany, a normal person who is trying to help people bring their vision to life to celebrate that special moment in their life. And as much as there’s other people who might have the same technical skills as me, I know the heart and connections I make with each client and I think that puts more love into the final product of what I create for people. Life is about genuine human connection and my business is allowing me to tap into that part of life.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
