Check out Jess Atkinson’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Atkinson.

Jess, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in a small beach town where I discovered my passion for the arts at a young age. As a child, I was fortunate to have hippie parents who encouraged me to run free in nature and use my hands to build and create art. I went on to study painting and photography in college and then taught art for several years before starting my own photography business.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a fine art portrait photographer. I create photographs with a painterly aesthetic full of light and nature. Most of my work has a strong connection with motherhood, family and the magic of childhood. Becoming a mom has been a major influence on my art.

Experiencing this bond and watching my daughter explore the world is a constant inspiration and keeps me present. Having the privilege to capture this love between other families brings me so much joy.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I believe worldly and local events are constantly influencing artists and their work. There is currently a lot of disconnect in the world. Although I wouldn’t necessarily call my art political, I hope that when people view my work they see beauty and playfulness and are reminded of the connection people share with one another and the Earth.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can view my most current work on Instagram.
