Hi The Crowdfunding Queen™, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Via my company, THE CROWDFUNDING QUEEN™, I’m proud of building an international community of wonderful people whom I empower by teaching them specific crowdfunding and fundraising methods that democratize the funding of projects they dream of making.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a crowdfunding expert and fundraising consultant known as THE CROWDFUNDING QUEEN™, and I help my clients make their vision come true. I personally engineered and teach what I consider the best how-to-crowdfund coaching program, FROM ZERO TO A MILLION IN 90 DAYS™. This revolutionary course focuses on $50,000 plus campaigns and educates you about everything you need to understand about premium crowdfunding and fundraising. It’s perfect for businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs, non-profits, and artists. I also offer on-demand courses and one-on-one consultation sessions for crowdfunders and fundraisers across the board. I’m one of the greatest resources for crowdfunding and fundraising, having successfully raised funds for my own projects many times. I have over 20 years of industry success and personal experience, and I work with serious crowdfunders and fundraisers only. THE CROWDFUNDING QUEEN™ is a woman, immigrant, and former foster care youth-owned business.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My late mother, an Olympian swimmer, provided me with a solid foundation of discipline, focus, and hard work. I’m grateful for having had such an extraordinary maternal role model whose approach went beyond sports and athletics.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Unfortunately, due to an accident, I lost my single-parent mom at age 6, and I grew up in foster care which was extremely hard and quite depressing. When I arrived alone in the United States at age 19, I was a poor and exhausted immigrant working 12-hour days as a babysitter for $5/hour. But, I really wanted to become a Hollywood director instead. However, I had no access to any capital to make my first film.
Therefore, I decided to build a community of 20,000 people, so that I could start raising $1.7 million for my first movie.
As an original pioneer of modern-day crowdfunding, this was before any of the major crowdfunding platforms existed; thus, I had to build my own platform and develop a unique methodology that combines online crowdfunding with offline fundraising techniques.
After the documentary premiered, it was selected by 21 festivals, 5 of them Academy Awards-qualifying, and won 8 awards. My film earned entry into the Oscar competition for “Best Documentary” and was honored with an invitation to be presented at the United States Congress. I’ve been crowdsourcing and fundraising ever since. Today, I continue to make films and teach crowdfunding and fundraising to entrepreneurs, business owners, creatives, students, universities, and non-profits around the world.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to and I enjoy working with clients who also take their goals seriously. While circumstances are almost never perfect and many times less than ideal, deep down, most of us intrinsically know that we need to answer the call to manifest our deepest desires.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I’m big on being my customers’ greatest cheerleader. There were times when other people’s kindness, care, and emotional investment in me made all the difference in the world for me. By inviting my potential clients to join THE CROWDFUNDING QUEEN™’s court, so to speak, I try to pass on that empowerment, inspiration, and source of strength to my customers.
