Story & Lesson Highlights with Mike & Sophie

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mike & Sophie. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Mike, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For us, these 3 qualities – intelligence, energy, and integrity – are deeply intertwined and they’re all equally important to us as they define not just what we do but who we are as people. But for today, we’ll speak to the importance of good energy because of how contagious it is! After many years of working as fitness professionals, we realized leading with fun (and great form of course) is something that lights us up! We love spreading positive energy through our upbeat workouts to make fitness fun and enjoyable.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are a married, fitness-powered couple based in Los Angeles, California 🌴 We create a variety of feel-good workouts to help you stay consistent and never bored! From our signature Dance x Dumbbells Workouts to HIIT, Strength and Cardio to the Beat, each session is designed to lift your mood, while helping you feel stronger and achieve results! We lead with fun (and great form of course). We aim to make each one of your workouts feel like a celebration and we’re here to support you every step of the way!

Mike is a former Equinox trainer. He is a weight loss specialist, certified by ISSA, with a remarkable personal transformation from 280lbs to 200lbs after his college football days.

Sophie, a student of nutrition and sports medicine, is certified by NASM and Precision Nutrition. She specializes in corrective exercises, nutrition, and pre/post natal.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
We believe what often breaks the bond between people, and even within ourselves, is forgetting to take care of our own well-being. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s so easy to give, give, give and forget to restore. When we stop prioritizing our own “me time,” we lose connection not just with others, but with our best selves.

For us, restoring those bonds starts with self-love and self-trust. It’s about recognizing that recovery, good nutrition, sleep, and hydration aren’t luxuries, they’re essential! When we take time to rest and recharge, we’re actually filling our cup so we can show up stronger, kinder, and more present for the people around us.

We’ve learned that movement is a form of self-respect, but so is rest. You can even see that in your pets, they rest most of the day without guilt! When we allow ourselves to slow down and restore, we reconnect with who we are and naturally strengthen our relationships with others.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If we could say one kind thing to our younger selves, it would be: You are enough.

It might be something we’ve all heard before, but it’s the truth that grounds everything else. You are enough, and everything is going to be okay. We all go through seasons of doubt, comparison, and pressure, especially in a world that constantly shows us everyone’s “best moments.” But life isn’t a race or a highlight reel. It’s about listening to your heart, following what feels good for your soul, and trusting that you’re exactly where you need to be.

We’d remind our younger selves that you don’t have to prove your worth. You already are worthy. Keep growing, keep learning, keep showing up, but know that just being here, breathing, and sharing this moment in time on this planet is already a miracle.

We are enough. You are enough. Always have been, always will be.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
We’re deeply committed to making fitness fun and doable for everyone, no matter how long it takes.
Through our YouTube channel, we want to keep making movement accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. Our goal is to help people rediscover the joy of moving their bodies, without the pressure or intimidation that can come with fitness.

It doesn’t have to be so serious, working out can (and should) make you smile! That’s why we always lead with fun and positive energy. Life’s too short to approach movement any other way.

We’ve seen incredible transformations from people who told us they hadn’t worked out in years, and now they look forward to it again. Knowing that we can help someone reconnect with their body and find joy in movement inspires us every single day.

If we can help people start that engine, and from there explore different types of workouts they genuinely enjoy, then we’ve done our job. At the heart of it all, we just want to spread love, through movement, positivity, and fun.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
We feel most at peace when we’re connected with nature, when we step away from the noise, take a deep breath, and allow ourselves to just be. There’s something magical about the ocean, the trees, the mountains, they remind us of how vast and alive our planet is, and how small but connected we are within it.

We also find peace in movement, when we let go of our worries and simply dance, play music, or move freely. In those moments, it’s not about results, it’s about presence. Grounded in the now.
