Story & Lesson Highlights with Lilit Melik-Bakhshyan of Burbank, CA

We recently had the chance to connect with Lilit Melik-Bakhshyan and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Lilit, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Many people quietly struggle with staying consistent, and that often comes down to accountability. It’s easy to set intentions or make promises to ourselves, but following through is where it gets tricky. Whether it’s sticking to a new habit or making a meaningful change, consistency can be one of the hardest things to maintain. Real growth isn’t just about setting goals. It’s about building routines and systems that make those goals sustainable. Without some form of accountability, whether to yourself or someone else, those goals often slip away. The truth is, everyone slips up sometimes, and that’s completely normal. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about learning how to get back on track.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I would describe myself as empathetic, passionate, accountable, resilient, and creative. These are qualities that shape the work I do every day. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a private practice, and much of my work centers on relationships, whether with yourself, in romance, or in life more broadly. The most important relationship you’ll ever have is with yourself because that foundation influences how all other relationships unfold. My role is to create a safe space where clients can understand who they are, build self-esteem, and begin healing, whether from narcissistic abuse, life transitions, anxiety, or depression.

In my practice, I focus on listening deeply, building trust, and guiding people as they explore their emotions, patterns, and goals. I often describe myself as an artist of the mind and soul, helping clients bloom into the person they were always meant to be. Together, we examine behavior patterns and create healthier ways of moving forward. My ultimate goal is to guide people toward freedom and alignment with their ideal selves.

At its core, my brand is about helping people become the best version of themselves and create more fulfilling relationships with themselves, with others, and with life as a whole. Therapy isn’t something to fear. It’s a space designed just for you, where you can grow, heal, and be fully yourself without judgment.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my private practice to reach and support more people. Everything in life is connected. Our habits, our mindset, even the way we spend time online. In a world that’s constantly moving and filled with noise, especially from social media, it’s more important than ever to carve out intentional moments of stillness and self-reflection.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds often begin to break when trust is lost. That can show up through betrayal, dishonesty, or misalignment between words and actions. Even subtle behaviors like not following through or showing consistent disrespect can quietly erode a relationship over time. It’s not always the act itself, but how it’s experienced by the other person.

Restoring a bond depends on the depth of the hurt and the willingness of both people to rebuild. Some connections may never return to what they once were, and that’s okay. But when healing is possible, it happens through consistent action, genuine behavior change, and time. Words alone aren’t enough. Trust is rebuilt by what you consistently do, not just what you say.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
There is, but I’d like to keep it that way. Some things are meant to stay just with us.
Private memories, feelings, or moments don’t need to be shared to have value. Holding certain things close reminds me that not everything in life has to be explained or exposed. Some experiences are meant to be carried quietly.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would say that what matters most to me is honesty, deep connection, and joy. I value authenticity in the people I surround myself with. Genuine, unfiltered relationships where both people can just be who they are. I keep a small circle and truly enjoy my own company, so when I choose to spend time with others, it’s always intentional and meaningful. I also value joy, laughter, and lightness. Those childlike moments that help us stay connected to ourselves and each other.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I could.
In fact, I often work hardest when no one is watching. My motivation comes from within, not from external validation. My lifestyle reflects that mindset. I consistently push myself in private, whether it’s sticking to a workout routine, focusing on personal growth, or building better habits. Growth and progress matter deeply to me, even when they go unnoticed. My drive to keep evolving is what fuels me.
