Story & Lesson Highlights with Christopher Nemeth of Glendale CA

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Christopher Nemeth. Check out our conversation below.

Christopher, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
There are a few things outside of work that are bringing me joy lately. I am very routine‑oriented, and my day starts at 6 AM with a trip to the gym. That morning workout clears my mind, helps me reset, and gets me ready for the day.
I also find a lot of happiness in simple things—spending time with my pugs, watching classic television, and enjoying quiet moments before the day gets busy. And spending time with my boyfriend always brings me joy; those little pockets of connection and comfort help keep me balanced and centered.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Christopher, and I’m the owner and sole esthetician behind Come and Glo here in Glendale, California. I’ve been an esthetician for nearly 14 years, and my passion for skincare comes from my own journey with severe cystic acne after high school. That experience shaped the way I approach skin today — with empathy, education, and a truly personalized touch.

At Come and Glo, I offer customized facial treatments tailored to what each client’s skin needs that day. No two faces are the same, which is why every session begins with a detailed consultation. By understanding your concerns, lifestyle, and goals, I’m able to create a treatment plan that truly supports your skin over time—not just in the moment.

For me, it’s not just about performing a facial — it’s about building a path toward healthier, more balanced skin. Each service is tailored with intention, using techniques and products selected specifically to help clients reach the results they’re hoping for. Clients can also enhance their facial with options like microdermabrasion, LED therapy, microcurrent, and peel upgrades. And for those wanting that red-carpet radiance, I offer my signature Cool GLO facial, which features the Coolifting device.

Since opening in May 2023, Come and Glo has become known for its personalized treatments, results-driven skincare, and warm, welcoming environment. I’m passionate about helping clients feel empowered, confident, and connected to their skin through education, consistency, and a high level of care

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that because I had a learning disability, ADD/ADHD, and traits on the autism spectrum, I was behind and had to work harder just to keep up. In many ways, I did have to work harder—but that effort shaped my discipline, resilience, and determination. Over time, I learned that the way my brain works isn’t a limitation. It’s given me creativity, strong intuition, and a deep attention to detail. The extra work paid off in the end, and those experiences continue to influence how I approach my life and work today

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes—there was a time when I almost gave up during beauty school. I had made the decision to go back to school to become an esthetician, which genuinely made me happy, but my first day felt overwhelming. I was the only male in the program, working full-time as a massage therapist, and adjusting to being a student again—learning new material, absorbing information quickly, and navigating unfamiliar expectations. Balancing the workload, expectations, and uncertainty caused me to panic and question whether I had made the right decision. That evening, I had a meaningful conversation with my boyfriend, who reassured me that everything would be okay and encouraged me to speak with my instructor. Taking that advice helped me gain clarity and confidence. I chose to stay, advocate for myself, and push forward. That experience became a turning point and strengthened my resilience, self-trust, and commitment to my path.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the skincare industry tells itself is that success is defined by flashy trends, social media validation, and branding yourself as a “six-figure esthetician” early on. I often see newer estheticians focused on selling an image—bragging about numbers, chasing algorithms, and overspending on devices just to keep up. Treatments like HydraFacial are heavily marketed as must-have solutions, when in my experience they’re often overrated and not necessary to deliver real, long-term skin results. Skin isn’t one-size-fits-all, and no single machine is a shortcut to great outcomes.

True success in this industry comes from education, consistency, personalization, and building genuine trust with clients—not hype, pressure, or trying to keep up with trends online

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I know my clients would miss me because every esthetician is different—each with their own style, techniques, and approach. If I retired tomorrow, my clients would miss the way I truly see them and care for their skin. They would miss my intentional facial pressure, fully customized treatment plans, and the custom-selected products I choose based on their individual needs—not trends. Most of all, they would miss the trust we’ve built over time. Skincare is personal, and having to start over and regain that level of trust with someone new isn’t easy. I believe what keeps clients coming back isn’t just results, but feeling understood, supported, and confident in the care they’re receiving.
