Story & Lesson Highlights with Cameron Cloud of North Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Cameron Cloud and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Cameron, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Alongside photography, music has always been a big part of my life, and DJing became the perfect outlet for that. Back in the day, I lived with a friend who had a great set up, and most nights I’d turn it on – entertaining guests, experimenting, and just keeping the vibe alive. Fast forward a few years ago, I started feeling the urge to take it more seriously instead of the occasional session. Then one day my good friend, Esli Sugich, a notable local LA DJ, offered a gig to me and asked if I had my own set up. With a leap of faith, I then invested into my own gear and agreed. That push was enough for me to take the leap. Since then, I’ve been playing shows every so often, honing my skills, and even mixes to share with friends. Like anything I’m passionate about, I give it my all. DJing has become a creative outlet that not only brings me joy but has also gotten me some recognition and support from my peers. It’s been a refreshing change of pace and something I really look forward to.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cameron Paris Cloud, I’m originally from Texas and have been living in LA for 7 years. I’m an artist and photographer building a creative brand that’s really just an extension of how I live. Photography is my foundation. I work in fine arts and photograph artwork for Martin Lawrence Gallery, which has become apart of my own unique niche. But I’m also a skater, DJ, painter, sculptor, and someone who’s constantly finding new ways to create and draw inspiration. What ties it together is collaboration and curiosity. I love working with other creatives to build something new, whether it’s a concept I’ve been imagining or an idea someone else wants to bring to life. My painting style draws from biomech influences, and my sculptural work is about exploring forms and ideas I haven’t seen before. My brand is really about blending all these outlets into a lifestyle that’s creative, collaborative, and always evolving.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
A lot of people have believed me in me over the years, but the first was definitely my mom. She was always proud of me and would tell me I’m talented. While my parents leaned toward encouraging a more secure career path, it was my teachers who reinforced the idea that art was worth pursing if it was really what I wanted. One memory that stands out was during college when a professor asked me privately for a print of one of my photographs I turned in for an assignment. They explained that it was rare for them to make such a request because the image stood out. That gesture of recognition has stayed with me ever since, reminding me of the value in following my creative path.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t waste your time comparing yourself to others or trying to fit into what you think the industry wants. Stay true to yourself. Your craft and vision are enough. The truth is, you don’t have to change who you are to “make it”. Keep focusing on your craft, believe in your voice, and trust that staying true to yourself will take you where you need to go. You’re enough and the world is better with you in it.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
A person that I admire for their character is Keanu Reeves. It might sound a little random, but I’ve always respected how humble and grounded he is despite his success. He has faced many challenges through his career and is known for giving his full heart to those that surround him. He strikes me as someone who acts with kindness first, who doesn’t act above anyone else, I really admire that about him. That’s something I try to emulate in everyday life, focusing on the good of others and leading with a genuine heart.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’ve always chosen to follow what felt authentic to me rather than what I was told to do. From an early age, I sensed I saw the world differently, and photography became a way to express that. Of course, there’s always the internal conflict of how to balance passion with practicality – how to make a living while staying true to myself. But whenever I create something that resonates with someone else, it reaffirms my choice. I’m proud to have come this far as a full-time photographer, and while I’m still discovering exactly where this journey will lead, it’s been a meaningful and rewarding ride.
