Sean Aeon shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Sean, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I see many of us still looking to find where we fit, still hiding our true selves, still dimming our light, and I see a connection there with Imposter Syndrome. For years, I’ve heard people say they were interested or intrigued by something they never engaged with, because—although they were pulled towards it—they didn’t feel like it felt like them. It’s easy to forget, when exploring expressing new parts of ourselves, it isn’t going to feel “like us”, because we’ve never connected with it in that way before. It was sensible for the unfamiliar to inspire unease, as the mind naturally searched for consistent patterns to anchor itself into experientially. We end up feeling bad about feeling like an imposter, not knowing it’s part of becoming what feels real to us, and doesn’t at all negate our enthusiasm. Enthusiasm was a compass, always pointing in a direction we were aligned with. Sometimes, we were satisfying a curiosity; other times, we were changing the trajectory of our lives.
Ultimately, we create, or adhere to, the bars which are set to measure when we are who we know we are. We decide when we have graduated; and when the line between student, and a student who teaches, has lost its definition. We decide when the title fits, and when we’re ready to step to the front and lead, and it’s usually when we know we can prove we do what we do (and live it). And all of that may begin with feeling out of place, while deeply knowing we’re in the right one.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Of course. My name is Sean Aeon, and I’m a perennial philosopher, visual artist, speaker, thought leader, and an independent author & publisher of:
• Aeonilism: Philosophy, Artwork, and Analysis
• Written by Chameleons: Tales of Hollywood Wake-Ups
• Written by Silence: Tales From The Divine
• LA on LSD: A Short Story Series
• An Artbook on LSD
• Fairytales From Within: Love, Sacrifice, and Discovery
• The Outsider’s Mind: A Collection of Short Stories & Quotes
I’ve been writing for 6 years; and the books I’ve written utilize different narrative styles—short stories, graphic novelization, myth & legends, philosophical analysis—each expressing an aspect of self-discovery, self-awareness, and collective connection. I do all of the artwork and design for each project, and everything is original (no AI). The goal with all my work is to hopefully make people think, to broaden their perception of themselves and their experiences, or to remind them of something they deeply know to be true.
The imprint I currently publish books and art under independently, is called Aeonaes (ee-on-niss); it’s a term I originally created for my book, LA on LSD, meaning, “as above, so below”. A reminder that all in existence depends on each other, and is a reflection of each other.
Aeonilism (ee-on-ih-liz-uhm) is the original philosophy I created and explore in my material—which I released as a standalone non-fiction book in September—exhibiting the intersections of philosophy, spirituality, and psychology, via observed patterns, frequency, and new functional symbolism. The book examines themes such as war, psychedelics, granting mercy, narcissism, and many others.
Also released this summer, was, Written by Chameleons and Written by Silence; each are a set of 4 mind-opening, modern-mythological short stories. What I love about myths & legends, is the way some stories use surreal narrative to show the reader universal truth, while others show them the tools to find it.
Written by Chameleons is about entertainment industry insiders, seeing the light while emerging from the darkness of shadowy lives. Famous friends, assassins, entertainment lawyers, and pop stars, illustrate what it’s like to see beyond a surface they didn’t know was there.
Written by Silence explores the many ways divinity is expressed and interpreted. A diary entry from the pen of Mother Earth, a walk with a mysteriously wise Messenger, a story of a grandmother’s awakening, and a scribe recounting reminders of divine perspective; the reader is taken on a journey through how deep the “bright side”, or, “the light” can really get.
Promoting my three latest book releases has been my main focus lately, along with continuing to look for opportunities to speak on podcasts and panels, and working more closely and consistently with holistic and wellness-centered communities/practitioners. Bringing awareness to different perspectives and ways to heal physically, emotionally, and interpersonally, is something I’m seeing as one clear way to bring us all closer together (and to ourselves).
I’d also like to highlight my book, Fairytales From Within; it’s a minimalist graphic novel—written like a children’s book—speaking to the inner-child of new and expecting parents, and those considering having kids.
Pre-parental prep is important.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
First, I think it’s worth mentioning that a broken bond isn’t always to our detriment, even it feels that way in the moment. If we have a desired way we want to live, and a bond is keeping us from it, is that a bond we want to keep? Is that a bond we want restored?
What I’ve most commonly seen break bonds between people, is one form or another, of unhealed emotional wounds or unexplored generational habits. It’s often the patterns expressed from our Trauma Responses and Generational Trauma, creating the friction in the relationships and interactions we value.
It’s the abandonment issues, parental-relation issues, enmeshment, victim mentality—fear, misguidance, etc.—that we’re actually in disagreement with or unable to reconcile. The truth is, we all have something to work on which can be an obstacle to our peace and happiness; those same tendencies can be expressed through us, also becoming an obstacle for others.
What restores bonds? The desire to relive and develop a connection, realizing its continued value, and of course, effort (to give) & allowance (to receive). If a bond is broken, there’s some sort of misalignment; making part of restoring bonds, being dependent on if those involved can realign on core perspectives and interpretations.
All restoration requires time, energy, effort, and attention.
A big part of even getting to the point of possibly restoring a bond, is getting to know ourselves, finding the support we need, and just working on being a person we’re in love with. The more we practice and trust being our favorite versions of ourselves, the more bonds are made which grow alongside us, while nourishing and supporting our growth.
Subconsciously, things are broken; Consciously, they are allowed to be; and with Awareness, the pieces are able to be reassembled or rearranged.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Success taught us it felt good when we got what we wanted; suffering taught us to find ways to feel good, even when we didn’t. A section in my book, Aeonilism, explores how the path to first place, often begins in last place. The tools and techniques needed to create what we envision, are often found in the attempts falling short. What we perceive and are taught is simply failure, is a teacher; what we perceive and are taught is simply success, is confirmation the lesson was learned and applied as desired.
I definitely didn’t go around wishing things didn’t work the way I wanted, while still practicing to remember that when they did, there was something useful to be gained (or reminded of) within the undesired parts of the experience. And when things didn’t gratify, it made my vision that much clearer for the future.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
I have a lot of beliefs which, thankfully, found themselves into this category. I was actually trying to think of a “wrong” belief, and by definition (from what I understand), all beliefs are inherently right. No one can accurately tell us our beliefs are wrong or incorrect. Belief isn’t about fact or morality, it’s about feeling and subjective interpretation.
A naive belief I once held, was that we lived in a chaotic world or a chaotic reality. Our planet and universe, is a masterpiece of perfectly patterned precision; each part of it affects, and reflects another. To call our reality chaotic, was to assume I understood how, and why, every single expression in existence was the way it was. I don’t.
Chronologically, humanity is new here; we’re still figuring out how the planet works, and each generation is building on the practices of the previous. We don’t know everything—I definitely don’t. Now, looking back, calling the world chaotic was a bit insulting and shortsighted, but in an immature, unintentional way. It’s much easier to call life chaotic (like calling a person crazy, or devaluing someone’s experience), than it is to delve into the caverns of the unknown to find understanding. Discovery requires both effort, and surrender. Through discovery and practice, I’ve thankfully been allowed to see how all of our existence exists in harmony (which isn’t always easy to see, but it is always present).
There was no separation, only distance.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
My niche is Perennial Philosophy—observing the recurrence of common themes across a range of perspectives and practices, expressing universal truths about the nature of reality. I see the common themes and thought patterns we experience and exhibit, also expressing and reflecting universal truths, wisdom, and understanding. Part of my work, is exploring correlations between interaction, intention, perception, and interpretation; translating—and sharing—part of the language of the Subconscious Mind.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have an increasingly clear understanding of the relationship between the Conscious and Subconscious Mind, particularly when it comes to what is perceived as, “the head” versus “the heart”. It seems not many people recognize “the head” as being the Conscious Mind, and “the heart” as being the Subconscious. Similarly, recognizing how the Conscious Mind acts as, what I call, The Inner Parent (the home of analysis and instruction), as the Subconscious Mind is The Inner Child (the home of emotion and intuition).
When we hear people refer to, “getting out of your head,” they’re referring to moving our Awareness (or frame of focus) to a specific part of the body, in order to sync with the rhythmic, non-analytic nature of our autonomic bodily functions. In other words, “getting out of your head,” is actually getting into our Subconscious Mind. Following our hearts, is connecting with our inner-child; it’s connecting with the involuntary reactions making our hearts beat faster with excitement or anxiety, or slower, in response to tranquility or empathy. A character realizes the significance of this relationship in Written by Chameleons, and it shifts how they see their entire future.
We don’t have to try thinking with our chests to be heart-centered individuals, we need to connect with what moves it.
I think it’s useful to understand these terms are interchangeable, and are all referring to areas of our minds; specifically, how the body is a reflection of the mind. Even if our body being in subpar health affects our thinking, it is our thinking (or lack there of) which allows our body to be undernourished. It is by way of the mind, which we are able to interpret and actively participate in our experience. If the mind goes, the Physical Reality Show is over.
I would also say, my understanding of the nature of divinity has grown noticeably; I write a lot about that in Written by Silence. It’s been both beautiful, and challenging, practicing seeing the divine in all creation and experience. When zoomed out, I see parts of every major religion and philosophy, all hinting at realizing this singular flawless reality at play. We only see “imperfection”, because we experience the painful and undesired subjectively. Traditionally, the “imperfect” are the experiences and interactions not going how we want, or not going how we’re taught they should.
Every aspect of our existence is sacred, and we each have the option to re-learn that for ourselves; we can each choose to embark on the journey. Those on the journey, are living divinely and perfectly; those not, are also living divinely and perfectly. Humanity is a miracle, born into a miracle. From the mystics to scientists, we’re continuously uncovering how we’re an addition into a spatial environment beyond our comprehension; we’re learning as much about it as we can manage, and doing our best as we go along.
