Rising Stars: Meet Zara Baghikyan of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zara Baghikyan.

Hi Zara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in real estate started from a genuine passion for helping people and a fascination with homes and architecture. I’ve always loved connecting with others and finding creative solutions — and real estate turned out to be the perfect blend of both.

I began my career working with buyers and sellers in the Burbank and Glendale areas, learning every aspect of the business hands-on. In the early days, I focused on building trust and relationships, one client at a time. Over time, that dedication led to consistent referrals, repeat clients, and a growing presence in my community.

What many people don’t see is that success didn’t happen overnight. There were many days when I felt like giving up, but consistency has always been the key. Every single day, I wake up with a winning mindset. Even when I faced rejection or challenges, I chose to move forward and focus on growth. I worked hard — often without a single day off — because I believed in my vision and the people I serve.

Today, I’m proud to be part of Compass, the number one brokerage in the U.S., where I help clients navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives with confidence and clarity. My approach has always been about more than transactions — it’s about creating a seamless, positive experience and truly caring for each person I work with.

It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m excited to continue growing, learning, and helping more families find their dream homes in Los Angeles.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced my fair share of challenges — from market fluctuations to deals falling through at the last minute. There were times when I questioned myself, especially in the beginning, when results didn’t come as quickly as I hoped.

One of the biggest challenges was staying motivated through rejection. Real estate can be tough — you pour your heart into helping clients, and sometimes things don’t go as planned. But I learned to see rejection as redirection. Every “no” taught me something, made me stronger, and brought me closer to the right opportunities.

Another challenge was finding balance. In this business, there are no real days off — I’ve worked nights, weekends, and holidays. But I believe consistency and mindset make all the difference. Even on hard days, I reminded myself why I started and kept moving forward.

Those struggles shaped who I am today. They taught me resilience, patience, and the value of staying true to your goals — even when the path gets tough.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a real estate agent with Compass, specializing in residential sales throughout Burbank, Glendale, and the surrounding areas. I help clients navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives—whether they’re buying, selling, or investing—with confidence and ease.

I’m best known for my local expertise, strong negotiation skills, and genuine care for my clients. I’m a very positive and fun person, and my clients and friends can absolutely attest to that. Even in stressful situations, I always find something to smile or laugh about—it helps keep everyone calm and focused.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me and the long-term relationships I’ve built through honesty, dedication, and results. From achieving multiple-offer sales over asking price to helping families find their dream homes, I take pride in making every transaction as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

What sets me apart is the combination of market knowledge, creative marketing, and a positive energy that makes the process not just successful—but actually enjoyable

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
When it comes to risk-taking, I believe growth doesn’t happen without stepping out of your comfort zone. Real estate itself is a career built on calculated risks—you’re constantly adapting to the market, putting yourself out there, and betting on your own effort and resilience.

One of the biggest risks I took was leaving a stable career path to go all-in on real estate. There’s no guaranteed paycheck, no safety net—it’s all about your drive, consistency, and belief in yourself. But I’ve always trusted that when you put in the work with the right energy and mindset, success follows.

I don’t take reckless risks, but I’m not afraid of challenges either. I see risk as an opportunity—to learn, to grow, and to push myself further. Even when something doesn’t go as planned, I look for the lesson (and usually find a reason to laugh in the process!).

For me, taking risks is about trusting yourself, staying positive, and turning uncertainty into motivation. That mindset has shaped not just my business, but how I live every day.
