Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Joseph.
Xavier, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began at the age of 13. However, I’ve always had the mindset to do and be something more than the bare minimum. I’ve always wanted to be great and help the people around me be great as well. I absolutely get that from parents, my heroes. I am a true believer that if you put your mind to absolutely anything, you will succeed. As I’ve grown older, I realized that everyone has a dream, a goal, or a resolution like myself. However, not everyone has the support, the knowledge, or the opportunities. What I do now is provide all of that. I take what I’ve learned, what I’ve been through, what I’ve succeeded at, and what I’ve failed at to help others elevate. I believe that there’s always a way to succeed. No matter the obstacle. For example, I work 10-12 hour shifts during the day at my day job, I then go home to work on music for a couple of hours, I go to the studio, then to the gym, on most days, I help my families food truck business which takes a lot of hours too.
On top of that, I take hours off of my day to work on my business and creating more opportunities for others and myself to grow. I will work harder than anyone can even fathom to get to my goal and to give an opportunity for everyone to succeed. There’s always an opportunity to bring along the people that are around you as you elevate in life. That being said, Where I am at now, I’ve started my own production company, I’ve created multiple shows to give up-and-coming artists in my city an opportunity to showcase their music. I’ve created opportunities for dancers, singers, actors, and models to chase their dreams. I’ve plugged my group of friends into my business so that they can gain greatly from it as it grows. Even though I’m doing this on my own without a team yet, I remind myself every day that I have made what seems to be impossible possible. I want to elevate my city, the world, and the possibilities in life. The world is a better place when we learn how to succeed together. Success is meaningless to me when it’s done alone. Success means more to me when we all prosper.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I am so thankful for the obstacles I’ve run into. I’ve struggled financially putting my shows together. I work constantly at my sales job and that takes up most of the hours in my day. I also work an extra job helping my family with their food truck business. This takes so much time away from myself as an R&B artist, a business owner, and a producer. However, all of these obstacles are essential in my journey. Yes, I sacrifice so much sleep because my goal means so much to me. These obstacles have taught me so much and they are my proof that anything is possible. We have 24 hours in a day, why not use as many of those hours as we can to create the dreams we have.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an R&B Artist out of Long Beach, CA. Music is absolutely my passion. I write, produce, and love to perform. I’m known for the meaning behind my music. Singing to me is a huge way to express things I’ve been through, things I want to manifest, and things that other people have overcome in my life that inspire me. Music is the most beautiful form of expression in my opinion. I am most proud of the success and the journey I’ve taken to get to where I’m at today. I am a true sucker for progress and growth. Being self-taught, practicing, working hard? loving poetry, and so much more has really brought my Artist career to so many different levels so far. I’m proud for making my dreams come true. I believe my work ethic, my drive, my passion, my motivation, my support and most of all my ability to sacrifice things to create the best opportunities and the right opportunities for my career. I believe I can do anything I put my mind to and that there is no limit and no ceiling to being the best ever.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those who are starting out is to accept failure. Embrace failure, expect failure, and don’t be afraid of it. Failure is just a test to prepare you for your success. It teaches you the dos and don’ts. It sharpens you for the big moments ahead and if you overcome your failures? They become motivation for you and proof for yourself to always look back and see that l anything is possible. One thing I wish I knew or had starting out was the courage to accept failure. I was so invested in trying to be successful that I missed opportunities that I should’ve went for again because of failure. Now I look forward to what I gain from it.
