Hi Uru, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
According to my parents,
I declared at my 6 year old birthday party that, “when I grow up, I’m going to sing to the world and make it happy”.
It’s funny how specific I was.
Growing up, I always had a thing for words, languages and melodies.
Later, I taught myself how to sing, write, compose, arrange and play piano for my music.
I got to this point by never giving up. I know everybody says that, but it is true.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, not a smooth road at all!
From people telling me that I should sing R&B and /or Gospel, just by looking at me.
The music industry can be so shallow sometimes.
But my background is so different.
I grew up on 3 different continents and continuously traveled internationally..
I don’t fit in a box.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Singer/Songwriter and Pianist. I write and arrange all of my music. I am most proud of this.
My style is my style. A blend of Rock, Pop and ‘Africa’, in one way or another.
I don’t ever want to limit myself to just one thing.
My sound is dynamic and different. My sound is always ‘my voice’.
I just released my new single SOLDIER, available on every digital platform worldwide!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I believe that if you believe in yourself, work hard at being who you want to be, don’t get locked into anything that some people tell you you should be (but you know you aren’t) and always stay humble and open…
Somehow, the right opportunity will find you or you will find it.
