Rising Stars: Meet Tmera Paige

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tmera PaigeE.

TMERA PAIGE

Tmera, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is TMERA PAIGE, and I’m from Bakersfield, California; music was my first language. From the age of four, I started singing in church. Gaining most of my musicality from my dad, him being the pastor of our church I sang a lot of solos. In grade school, I immersed myself in music, participating in choirs, competitions, and honor events, shaping my skills and discovering my love for performance.

At twelve, I began songwriting, expressing my soul through lyrics while learning to play the guitar and piano. At fifteen, I recorded my first gospel record,

At nineteen. I auditioned with my producer, Shawn Diggy, to form a girl’s group but then decided I wanted to be a solo artist and recorded my first R&B record.

In my earlier teenage years, I took a leap of faith and auditioned for both “The Voice” and “American Idol,” hoping to launch my career onto the national stage. Although I wasn’t selected, those experiences only fueled my determination to succeed.

Today, as I reflect on my journey from church choirs to center stage, I am filled with gratitude for every twist and turn along the way. Each setback, each triumph, has shaped me into the artist I am today—a singer, a songwriter, a storyteller.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I faced tough times as an artist. I ended up homeless, living in my car, struggling to hold on to my dreams. Along the way, I lost friends and got caught up in bad relationships that made everything harder. Dealing with depression was tough, especially when I couldn’t afford a car for years. I bounced between jobs that barely paid the bills, feeling like my artistic dreams were slipping away. But through it all, music kept me going, giving me hope even in the toughest times.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an independent artist juggling a job as a waitress, finding balance between my passion for music and the demands of everyday life is a constant challenge. Despite the setbacks, I specialize in creating R&B and soul music.

Beyond music, I’ve also ventured into modeling and acting, driven by a desire to explore new creative avenues. With aspirations of starring in action movies, I’ve immersed myself in hobbies like Muay Thai and boxing to enhance my physical capabilities for potential stunt work. Constantly booking photoshoots to expand my modeling portfolio, I embrace the challenge of embodying different characters and aesthetics. Alongside my artistic pursuits, I find joy in fitness and cooking, indulging in challenging routines to push my limits and experimenting with new flavors and dishes in the kitchen.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
My most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey is that it’s a “journey”. There will always be highs and lows. Just trust God be yourself, and do what you feel is right. What’s yours cannot be taken from you.
