Today we’d like to introduce you to Thy-Hang Quach.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I graduated from college with a business management degree but one day I was a model for my cousin who was training to do lash extensions and a realization lit up within me. I was drawn to esthetics so I went and signed up for beauty school. Came out of school, worked at a couple of places and started my own lash extension business with my cousin- Samantha. As I gained more experienced in the industry, I started to incorporate facials and the rest became history.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was not easy to start up a business. For a while, I had to work a second job to pay for personal expenses while I was pouring everything back into the business. Over time, it became easier but it’s definitely challenging as you wear all kinds of hats as a small business owner.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love being a licensed aesthetician. Since I was young, I’ve always been into makeup and skincare. In this career. I specialize in Russian lash extensions and Korean skincare. I focus on creating a relaxing experience for all my clients. From the heated table to scented candles and relaxing music. They come in to relax and decompress while I work on their lashes and/or their skin. I love the combination of these two services -it allows my clients to feel and look great and that is what makes me the happiest.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Patience. A lot of things in life and in your career will not go your way. You have to learn to be patient, adapt and choose a different path or outlook. Take the time to educate yourself and increase your knowledge. There is no need to compare yourself against others or push yourself to be on the same speed as others.
