Rising Stars: Meet Teran Houston of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teran Houston

Hi Teran, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born into a religious family just outside of Oklahoma City. I knew from the age of 4 that I wanted to be an entertainer. I read at the end of Looney Tunes that they were made in Hollywood, and I’ve wanted to live there ever since. After taking whatever acting, singing, dancing job I could get cast for in OKC, I finally was able to make the jump last summer and I am alive and THRIVING! I have been on National Television, multiple times. My first gig was Judge Mathis, and I have been doing local business modeling. I also have been a member at LA’s longest lasting improv theatre in Burbank named LA Connection for a year now!
I am thankful for this opportunity and look forward to this being my “next step”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The transition from OKC to LA was a culture shock that no one could prepare for. The ups and downs of this city, along side the feeling of NEVER being correct in the eyes of majority of people in the surrounding. I stay true to myself and some are intimidated by that. I believe in God, and he has a plan for me. I just have to live day to day and appreciate the beauty where I can.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor, lyricist, singer, improv & stand up comedian. I also snowboard, skateboard, and surf! I’m living my LA dream! I am currently focused on my skateboarding more than anything; moving to LA made me really want to take on all of my childhood dreams and make them a reality. This summer, I plan to hit it hard w/ applying to many gigs but I’ve got my sights set on Big Brother for the summer. Reality TV seems to be the greatest entry way to my “big break”. Modeling is a side gig but I’m always open to being a part of it. I consider myself a “jack of all trades” and I like to be involved in many moving parts. LA is the city for ME!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Definitely Christmas 2003. I was raised at my grandmother’s house along side my aunts, uncle, and siblings. My grandpa had got a HUGE bonus and he told my brother and I to write down every single thing we wanted for Christmas so we can be “surprised” by the selections they make.
My grandparents bought us EVERYTHING on our lists AND a few extra gifts like electric mopeds and some extra video games.
Such an amazing time.
