Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Moore
Hi Sophia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began singing at 11, auditioning for my choir’s vocal ensemble. My life changed that day as I discovered I could sing! From there I learned the ukulele, and guitar and began to write songs. During the 2020 pandemic, my mom signed me up for a songwriting class at the Songwriting School of LA as something to do during isolation. My songwriting took off from there, and my songwriting teacher became my producer and a dear friend and mentor.
In 2022 I wrote a song called “Inside Joke”, which became my first ever original release. Since then I have synced two songs in TV shows, released an EP called “group therapy”, and am currently in the process of recording my second EP!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The music industry is tough. Being a woman in the music industry is even tougher. I am so lucky I have my family and producer behind me who support me every step of the way, making sure I am heard and valued. With that being said, it is not easy.
Many of my songs are about mental health and experiencing life while struggling with anxiety and depression. As much as I am so lucky I have my music as my way of processing and escaping that, it is still something I struggle with daily.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I write songs for the people who wear their hearts on their sleeves. For the ones who feel everything so deeply and are messy. Every song I write is a world I create and I love nothing more than letting my listeners in. My writing has been described as sentimental. Yes, I write sad songs but more than that I try to talk about the feelings we all know, but don’t always talk about.
I love to perform. Music is meant to make people feel something so watching an audience react to my songs as I perform is such a gift.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is definitely the hours spent playing outside with my brother. He and I are very close and always have been. When we were little we would spend hours climbing trees, swinging on the swing, and running around with our neighbors playing games.
