Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Marzocchi.
Hi Sophia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became an entrepreneur very organically. It actually grew out of a personal frustration. Back in my 20’s, I had super problematic skin. Unless you experience this yourself, it’s hard to understand how insecure it can make one feel. At that time, I searched desperately for help, and only two avenues were available: extremely harsh chemicals that dried and stripped my skin or the ‘holistic facial’ that smelt nice and was relaxing but did nothing to fix the problem. I needed both. I wanted clean products that represented my ethos of a toxic-free life, yet I still needed results! So, I set out to build this myself. I mean, I had already done so much research on myself! I also find the wellness industry inundated with advice and overloaded with products. I wanted to be an honest skin care guide for others, to offer the knowledge and guidance that I couldn’t find myself.
After a few years, my clientele quickly grew, and I needed to expand and hire a team. I have always thrived in collaboration so I was so excited to curate a team of specialists who would inspire each other. We are a small family that works together, constantly training and exploring new treatments… It’s so nourishing to be around women who support each other. I love the atmosphere of Spa Sophia because we share and collaborate. As a result, the space feels empowering and compassionate for both the team and our clients.
What initially began as an answer to my frustration over my own skin has now grown into a thriving business, a lovely hidden gem in the heart of the West Side. We offer everything from high-end massages to advanced modalities, all customized and delivered with guidance and honesty. All of the products we use and recommend are free of toxic ingredients. Our clients truly receive the care and guidance I was searching for. It is the deepest joy to offer this to my team and clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Challenges and Obstacles… um, Covid kicked my *** after building an extremely successful team and clientele and booked a solid waitlist only. I had to start all over. from scratch. I went from a team of 14 to 2 myself and one other esthetician (yes, my ride or die). There is nothing that can prepare you for a total shutdown. Not only that but we touch people’s faces! There was no virtual version here. It did teach me a lot about both resilience and a love for what I do. I did not want to give up. To this day, I am so proud of us. And in the end, it actually gave me a chance to recreate the magic with even more intention and clarity.
As an entrepreneur one of the biggest lessons that I wished I had learned earlier. I wished I had learned earlier to not try and do it all. Don’t do what you are not good at or not passionate about; it’s not worth it. It doesn’t really save you money. Find a way to hire out no matter how big your business is. Don’t wait to hire the social media manager, the accountant, the assistant, or the coach.
Being an entrepreneur has taught me to know myself. To choose daily into what I love. I choose into what my strengths are and lean into that.
Because I am so passionate about my work, my clients feel it and
When I support my team in doing what they love, they excel, and the whole business thrives. This is truly and win-win
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have become a master esthetician working on faces for almost 20 years. I specialize in a curated treatment. One that addresses the whole person and the skin in that exact day and moment. For this I have trained with over 15 different modalities that i can add into my services to address whatever my client’s needs may be. After we initially met together, I looked at your skin and discuss your home care and wellness journey so far. Then, I proceed to start us together on your skincare journey. I promise to leave my clients feeling utterly relaxed, revitalized inside and out. I also offer clear guidance with what to do next!
I also am an entrepreneur, which I love with equal passion! My desire to grow and collaborate continues as I aim to inspire my team on a daily basis. I have learned so much from running a business I would not have it any other way!
