Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Oropeza.
Hi Sebastian , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Im multidisciplinary visual creator specializing in high-impact imagery that blends artistic vision with commercial appeal. My expertise spans cinematography, photography, visual marketing, and branded storytelling, with a focus on beauty, fashion, and cultural narratives.
My creative journey began in a university photo lab, where I developed both my technical skills and artistic voice. This foundation led me to create prestigious visual content for globally recognized brands including:
* Paul Mitchell (campaigns & educational content)
* FHI Heat (product launches & stylist collaborations)
* Andis Clippers (barbering tutorials & brand films)
I’ve had the privilege to work alongside visionary hairstylists and artists who shape beauty and pop culture:
* Paula Peralta – documenting her editorial work for high-fashion clients
* Noogie Thai (2x Emmy winner) – capturing behind-the-scenes moments with celebrity clientele
* Donald “The Barber” Coneley – immortalizing his craft with hip-hop royalty like Snoop Dogg
A career highlight includes photographing Quannah Chasinghorse at the Met Gala, where I captured the perfect intersection of Indigenous heritage and haute couture.
Oropeza Productions: Where Vision Meets Execution
Through my production company, I deliver:
* Cinematic brand films that elevate commercial messaging
* Editorial photography with a distinctive visual signature
* Strategic visual marketing content designed for engagement
* Authentic storytelling that connects with diverse audiences
Current Passion Project: Chicano Novela
I’m currently developing an original Chicano-themed novela set in Los Angeles – a deeply personal project that celebrates my cultural roots while pushing creative boundaries in Latino storytelling.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting over, especially when you move from other country can be challenging. It’s important to find your community and connect with people that believe in and support you. Be clear in your vision and do something everyday to move yourself closer to the goal. Along the road, take care of your mental health. We can hustle and work hard but we need take of our self to continue moving forward in our vision.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a filmmaker, producer, content creator and marketing strategist. I am passionate about celebrating Black and brown stories and producing content that elevates the diversity and beauty of the culture. I am known for elevating social content by shooting it with a cinematic eye and bringing underrepresented stories to the forefront.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Packing up my entire life in Mexico and moving to Los Angeles to pursue my dream of being a filmmaker was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I am not afraid to take risks but I will do my research first, create a plan and hustle hard to make my dreams a reality. I think with great risk comes great reward, so if I know there will be a big payoff that moves me in the direction I want to go , I will make the leap.
