Rising Stars: Meet Ryan Gahvaray of Glendale, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Gahvaray

Hi Ryan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As I was preparing to graduate in December 2021, I was faced with a crucial decision in regards to where I wanted to take my career. I could either stay in the sports industry and work my way up the traditional way, or make the transition into the financial sector and dive into a new realm.

As I started applying for jobs, I came across an opportunity at New York Life for a Financial Services position. The job description matched exactly what I was looking for, which was world class training, uncapped earning potential, and most importantly, the ability to control my own time. I sent in my resume, went through the interview and background check process, and by February 2022 I had officially started my new career in the financial field. Fast forward to today, I am currently two and a half years into my career as a financial professional, where I run my own practice guiding individuals, families and small business owners to reach their financial goals through holistic financial planning.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my new career was no easy feat whatsoever. I was doubted, judged, mocked, and ignored by those closest to me, including my own friends and family, who had assured me that they would support me no matter what. Instead of allowing external pressures and expectations of others to put me down, I looked within myself to accept that their insecurities and doubts should not and will not determine my success. Two and a half years later, I can proudly say that I battled through that adversity, developed myself as a professional and created my success through setting goals and staying consistent on a daily basis, even when I didn’t want to show up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a financial professional, I specialize in all aspects of financial planning. What this looks like on a day-to-day basis can differ. My approach focuses on holistic financial planning and always making sure to put my clients goals, dreams, and needs first and foremost. What I am specifically known for is college funding for young kids, life insurance planning, financial planning, retirement planning, annuities, disability insurance, long-term care insurance, and setting up employee benefit plans for small business owners.

What I am most proud of is being able to hear the satisfaction and appreciation that my clients tell me during our meetings. When someone decides to work with a financial professional, it is probably one of the biggest emotional and monetary deposits they will make in their lifetime. My clients are literally trusting me with their hard earned money, and for that, I feel a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation.

What sets me apart from other professionals in my industry is the care I provide to my clients beyond conducting business. I have a deep relationship with each and every one of my clients and my relationship with them goes beyond a simple transaction one time in their life. I have been welcomed inside their homes, we have shared meals together, I have met their friends and family, and most importantly, they have all become a part of my family as well.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years I expect to see the finance and insurance industry transitioning more towards the online space. I believe that because of COVID-19, the way that a lot of industries conduct business has changed immensely, and I can say that it has had a tremendous impact on my industry as well. A perfect example of this is the ability for me to have a greater impact on my clients across the U.S. because of Zoom.

The world of finance is always ever changing with new laws, rules and regulations, but based on my research and what I have seen, I believe the following areas will have the biggest shifts:

1. AI & machine learning softwares

2. Regulatory compliance

3. Digital transformation
