Rising Stars: Meet Ruth Medrano

Today we’re excited to be connecting with Ruth Medrano again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Ruth, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m thrilled to reconnect and share a bit more about my journey. For those who missed my earlier interview, here’s a quick look into my story:

My love for all things beauty began at a young age. My grandma’s Sunday routines doing her hair and makeup at the kitchen table, sparked my interest early on. I fondly remember the scent of her CoverGirl lipstick, and I spent hours experimenting with hair and makeup, even cutting my sister’s hair at 7 (Eek! Mom was not happy!)! By high school, I knew I wanted to pursue makeup and hairstyling professionally. After college, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream, completing a Cosmetology Business course. My first gig came through a friend of a friend, where I did makeup for the Salvation Army’s media department, and from there, I kept hustling, working side jobs and learning from the best.

Today, I niche in Special Events and specialize in a modern, chic beauty aesthetic. Creating looks that are both glam, but true to the wearer. What sets me apart is my dedication to constant growth and my passion for the artistry of hair and makeup. I’m committed to making my clients feel their best, no matter the look or event. I’m excited for what’s ahead and grateful for the journey. Thank you for being part of it!

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Since we last connected, so much has happened! As always, I’ve been busy building my beauty business and constantly refining my craft. I’ve been focusing on working with amazing clients who trust me to create their glamorous looks, on everything from red carpets to TV interviews. It’s really rewarding to be apart of helping clients feel their absolute best and watching their confidence soar.

On the business side, I’ve been hustling smarter these days, working on some exciting collaborations and expanding my portfolio. I’m always learning from other talented artists, attending workshops, and pushing myself to stay at the top of my game. It’s challenging, but I’m so proud of myself — I want to be one of the BEST in my field, and that’s what keeps me motivated every day.

The most exciting part of this journey this past year was getting to work with Time Magazines Women of the Year Event and moving into working with companies top execs. Their my kind of Celeb and I love glamming for and with these powerhouse women.

Looking ahead, I’m excited about the projects I have up and coming in the schedule and continuing to grow in new and creative ways. It’s a constant evolution, but that’s what makes this journey worth going, the constant adjusting. I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds!

Alright, so let’s do something a bit more fast-paced and lighthearted. We call this our lightning round and we’ll ask you a few quick questions.
