Today we’d like to introduce you to Pero Peskir
Hi Pero, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In addition to my father, a self-taught sculptor, I fell in love with drawing from childhood, but when I was about 18-19 years old, at the persuasion of a friend, I made my first tattoo, I think it was in 2001. Unlike today, back then it was quite difficult, without internet, availability of equipment, it was roughly like a tattoo made in prison. In the beginning, I didn’t manage everything because of the difficulties, but 4 years later, with more pressure from people around me, I started to take an interest in tattooing more seriously, and I can say that I consider that period to be one of my beginnings.
I didn’t just get into tattooing right away, it was more of a hobby alongside my job in furniture making. However, 6 years ago I decided that this is what I want to do. And so, after 20 years, I’m still here, with a lot of beautiful moments, trips, conventions, friends and several awards. For now, I am stationed in Belgrade in my studio and in Hanau (Germany) as a regular guest artist. Plans for the future would be to visit Los Angeles and several other cities in America.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
First of all, it was fun, it was something new for me, and when I look back now, there were difficulties. Let’s say at the beginning I didn’t have a sterilizer and I didn’t have money to buy one, luckily I had a friend, a nurse, so she did me a favor, when she’s on the third shift and there are no bosses, then she can sterilize my equipment, so my appointments depended on that when she works the night shift, I could only get a tattoo the next day. Fortunately, today’s beginners do not have to face similar problems. I studied without a mentor, through my own mistakes, so today I try to direct beginners not to do the same, but to find a mentor, to work and study hard and not to consider themselves far from success because it is closer than it seems to them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
First of all, I deal with tattooing, but also the art that is closely related to it, painting, drawing and sculpting. The style that I love the most and in which I feel great is black and gray realism, and I’m starting to deal with colors more and more. Something that I would distinguish myself by is ideas, designs, I am able to spend hours preparing for some artist’s work in the hope that I will come up with something new and different from the others.
Also, thanks to the studio All Eyes On You, because I participated in more conventions with that phenomenal team, I managed to collect a modest number of 7 awards in the last year.
What were you like growing up?
As a child I was restless, tireless and persistent in wanting to impress others, primarily in sports, basketball or football, but it turned out that art took me under its wing and I had the most success in that field.
