Rising Stars: Meet Oscar Jordan of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Jordan.

Hi Oscar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Chicago born Army veteran and a conservatory trained actor. I work as an on-camera actor for film, TV, commercials, and I’m also a voice over artist for animation and video games. I’ve won a few awards for screenwriting and producing film, and I’m also a novelist, a music journalist, a musician, and a music educator.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every artist knows the pain of trying to exist in a world with non-artists – financial challenges, relationships, judgement, rejection, etc. “There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My brand is “Dads and compassionate authority figures with an edge.” These are the types of roles I generally play. I’ve also performed in period pieces and do accents. I’ve played creeps and villains, but since I look good in a suit I’ve played a lot of CEOs, Police Commissioners, detectives, and lawyers – authority figures.
I’ve worked on everything from big budget films with Julia Roberts, Eddie Murphy, Tom Cruise, and Jack Nicholson, to the worst deep cable projects.
I’m most proud of my film Sick Money which is a short film I wrote, produced, and starred in.

How do you think about luck?
Preparation meets opportunity goes without saying. Luck is a huge deal and often overlooked. Bad luck can ruin the most talented people in the world.
Good luck has changed the lives of many mediocre people for the better. Good luck and bad luck is random. It happens when it happens. There are things outside of our control, but we play the hand we’re dealt, work hard, and make the best decisions possible.
