Rising Stars: Meet Octbrfrst

Today we’d like to introduce you to Octbrfrst.

Hi Octbrfrst, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The music thing was an accident. I had this comic book in 6th grade that I would make for fun and people would read and I picked up the idea again in 9th grade but I wanted to make it a cartoon. There was a character in the cartoon named “Lord Khan” and he was supposed to do the music for the show and then I realized I needed music for the show so I opened up garageband. I ended up making beats every day, doing graphic design, and eventually just scrapping the cartoon idea and changing my artist name to “KordLhan” there’s still some stuff floating around the internet from when I went under that alias.

I started the Octbrfrst stuff around 2017 when I started recording my vocals and getting into engineering. The rest is history ~

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Been at it since 2014. Sometimes this accident I stumbled into feels like a curse. Music made me love my life and it’s even been a part of the destruction of my life. It’s truthfully just an addiction and my progress is so deep into it that I can’t push myself to quit. I recently got into an A&R manager scam that seemed very legitimate and it sorta was to an extent. But it’s sh*t like that that gets your hopes up. Makes you feel like all that time you’ve wasted wasn’t actually wasted and you might have made something of yourself.

With the graphic design, I’ve done a couple of album commissions for bigger names and even been scammed and ghosted by one of them.

Just a bunch of fakes and selfishness going on in the industry and you have to learn from that.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As for my “work” I like to do a lot of the technical stuff.

I produce, mix, master, engineer, write, record, draw and make all my cover art.

I think I’m best known for my music and graphic design.

Ego aside. What sets me apart from others is that I know how to do practically everything myself.

It takes a lotta time and frustration to be “good” in a lot of mediums.

Mixing your own vocals and making your own beats creates a standout sound for yourself and I can proudly say it shows.

What matters most to you?
Family, my close friends who have been with me since I started all this. The little things always matter the most as well.
