Rising Stars: Meet Noele Charles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noele Charles.

NOELE CHARLES

Hi Noele, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I, Noele, began NOELENOELE out of deep frustration with the lack of representation and inclusivity in the cosmetics industry. Working as a brand ambassador, I witnessed firsthand the disappointment of individuals with darker skin tones who couldn’t find suitable products. This experience lit a fire within me.

I started by creating products that weren’t just about makeup; they were about confidence and self-expression. NOELENOELE was born out of a desire to celebrate every individual, especially those who felt unseen and unheard. I didn’t want to conform to existing beauty standards; I wanted to challenge and redefine them.

Going beyond conventional retail spaces, I ventured into clubs, beauty supply stores, and shelters to connect directly with people. Understanding their unique needs became the foundation of NOELENOELE. My brand isn’t just about selling makeup; it’s about empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness unapologetically.

Through the Pussy(ism) movement, I’ve challenged societal norms, encouraging people to embrace their bodies and periods without shame. NOELENOELE isn’t just a brand; it’s a community, a safe space where self-love and acceptance flourish.

Today, I continue this journey with the same passion and commitment. NOELENOELE is more than a cosmetics brand; it’s a movement for change, acceptance, and empowerment. And I’m incredibly proud of the impact it’s making in the lives of the unseen and unheard.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating the delicate balance between creating new products, managing stock, and sustaining my living expenses has indeed been a challenging journey. Every day, I find myself juggling between ensuring there’s enough backstock to meet demands and innovating with new creations, which is the essence of my artistry. Despite the challenges, I’ve made a deliberate choice to invest my earnings back into NOELENOELE.

Paying myself a modest $250 weekly might seem limiting, but it’s a conscious decision. Every penny is channeled back into my brand, my dream. It often feels like living on a tight budget, but I see it as a necessary sacrifice. The budget isn’t just about financial constraints; it’s about making my dreams a reality. It’s about channeling every available resource into NOELENOELE to fuel its growth and impact.

The struggle is real, but so is the determination. Every hurdle, every budgeted dollar, is a testament to my dedication to this journey. I believe in my art, and I’m willing to go the extra mile to see NOELENOELE flourish. The challenges, as tough as they are, are a part of this beautiful, transformative process. And in the end, I know it will all be worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Absolutely, Pussy(ism) is the heartbeat of NOELENOELE. It’s not just a movement; it’s a sanctuary, a haven where patriarchy-oppressed individuals find solace, acceptance, and empowerment. In a world often marked by judgment and inequality, Pussy(ism) stands as a powerful testament to inclusivity and self-love. Here, people aren’t just customers; they are cherished members of a supportive community.

What sets NOELENOELE apart is not just the products we create but the profound impact we make through Pussy(ism). It’s a movement that transcends makeup; it’s about embracing identity, celebrating individuality, and fostering a sense of belonging. In this space, people don’t just find cosmetics; they discover their strength, their voice, and their beauty, unburdened by societal expectations.

Creating a safe space where everyone feels heard, respected, and valued is not just a mission; it’s a way of life at NOELENOELE. It’s about dismantling barriers, empowering lives, and redefining beauty standards. Pussy(ism) isn’t just a movement; it’s a revolution, and every product, every interaction, and every effort at NOELENOELE is dedicated to nourishing this revolutionary spirit. Together, we’re not just making cosmetics; we’re crafting a future where everyone, regardless of their gender or background, can proudly say, “I am beautiful, I am unique, I deserve space.”

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
In the midst of a tumultuous childhood, I found solace in the vibrant world of art. Growing up as an introverted soul, the school felt like an alien place, a space where I struggled to connect amidst the chaos of my home life. But everything changed when I stepped into the art class during my final year of high school.

In the realm of colors and creativity, I discovered my voice. For the first time, I felt seen, heard, and appreciated. Art became more than just an escape; it became my identity, my sanctuary. I embraced my role as a creator, a colorist painting my way through the complexities of life.

That pivotal moment, marked by receiving the Art Award despite my challenges, ignited a passion within me. It wasn’t just an accolade; it was a validation of my existence, a testament to my potential as an artist. From that day forward, my journey into the world of makeup commenced.

Each stroke of color became a defiance against my past, a proclamation of my resilience. Art, in all its hues and shades, became my language, my expression, and my way to empower others. It wasn’t merely about applying makeup; it was about painting confidence, self-love, and beauty onto every face I touched.

Through the transformative power of art, I discovered my purpose – to bring light and color into the lives of those who, like me, once felt invisible. My makeup journey is not just about cosmetics; it’s a narrative of survival, strength, and the beautiful artistry that emerged from the darkest corners of my life. It’s a story of finding my voice and helping others find theirs, one brushstroke at a time.
