Rising Stars: Meet Nathan Da Silva of Los Angeles,Ca

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Da Silva.

Hi Nathan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

My Name is Nathan Da Silva owner of Dasimbowls.
Dasimbowls started when I hit one of the lowest points in my life. I was struggling and knew I had to make a change. With the support of my mom and family, I turned to what I loved, cooking. What began as making rice bowls for myself, friends and family quickly grew into a business built on flavor, love, and resilience. Today, DASIMBOWLS offers bold, signature rice bowls, Meal Preps, All Event Catering, and Food truck services..

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I started from a really low point in my life, with no clear direction, just a passion for cooking and a need to change my situation. There were a lot of setbacks, but with the right support, I pushed through. Every struggle made me stronger, and DASIMBOWLS is the result of that resilience.
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation just know there is light at the end of the tunnel ready for you to shine with the light.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
To me, making bowls is an art form. It’s not just throwing food together—it’s about balance, flavor, color, and presentation. Each bowl is crafted with intention. The way the protein is cooked, the way the sauces hit, the textures, the way everything is layered—it’s all part of creating an experience.

Just like an artist uses a canvas, I use a bowl. And the goal is always the same: to make people feel something. Whether it’s comfort, satisfaction, or straight-up joy—if my food can do that, then I know I’ve done my job as an artist.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing people enjoy the food I made—like really enjoy it. That first bite, the smile, the “yo, this is fire” reaction—that means everything to me. It reminds me why I started. Feeding people, creating something from scratch, and knowing it brought someone a little joy or comfort—that’s the best feeling.
