Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Castagnetti.
Hi Michele, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Italy and after discovering I had a penchant for design, I studied in Milan and in New York where a received a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Design. I worked for years for major advertising agencies in Manhattan such as Grey. After September 11, I moved to Los Angeles falling in love with the artistic outpost of Venice and downtown. I’ve been working as a multidisciplinary artist winning awards in graphic design, filmmaking, photography and exhibiting in many international art shows.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The creative field offers many struggles and frustrations; you’re free to pick and choose.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Art is the most satisfying field for me especially when it makes a social and intellectual impact.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk taking is always high when you follow you’re own passion. Leaving a full-time job to pursue your own creative path is probably the most challenging. Changing cities to follow that dream is also quite challenging but the rewards are priceless. Taking a chance is always good.
