Rising Stars: Meet Matt Dusig of Pacific Palisades

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Dusig

Hi Matt, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey as an art major in college, originally thinking I’d go into psychology but quickly found myself drawn to the art department, studying everything from painting to photography. Right out of school, I freelanced as a graphic designer, which taught me the ins and outs of running a business and working with clients across different industries.

That experience led me into the tech world, where I co-founded a couple of successful market research companies, including GoZing and InnovateMR. Building these companies taught me a lot about resilience and innovation, and after they were acquired, I finally decided it was time to dive back into what I truly love—photography.

Now, I focus on fine art photography, capturing wild horses, aerial landscapes, and cityscapes. My work has taken me to some incredible places, like Sable Island and the Camargue, and I’m working on making my art more accessible through my website’s e-commerce platform.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a bumpy road. Over the years, I’ve dealt with businesses on the brink of failure, rescued from the edge. There were serious challenges with investors, who sometimes had different visions for the companies than we did, and navigating those relationships was a balancing act. Employees were another challenge; building the right team can be the key to success, but it’s never easy and can make or break you when times are tough.

One of my first businesses nearly collapsed after a risky pivot, and we had to fight hard to get it back on track. There was no safety net; it was make-or-break every day. I learned early on that resilience and a willingness to adapt were essential. These struggles shaped me, though, and made every success that much more meaningful.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a fine art photographer with a clear focus on horses—wild, powerful, and full of spirit. I’ve photographed the wild horses of Sable Island in Canada, the white horses of Camargue in France, and the mustangs of the American West, capturing these animals in their raw, untamed environments. While I also shoot grand aerial landscapes and cityscapes, my real passion is for equine photography, and that’s where my work truly stands out.

What sets me apart is my unique perspective: I blend fine art with the technical expertise I developed over years in business and tech. I try to capture each scene with an attention to detail and an emotional depth that goes beyond a simple portrait. I strive to showcase the beauty and power of these animals in ways that evoke a connection with viewers.

I’m most proud of creating work that resonates with people, enough for them to want these moments in their homes or offices. Check out my website at www.dusig.com

What’s next?
I have some exciting plans ahead! I’m expanding my website to support a more robust e-commerce experience, making it easier for people to order framed prints in different sizes. It’s a step toward reaching a wider audience and allowing collectors to bring these wild and powerful scenes into their spaces.

In the new year, I’m rolling out a full-scale marketing push, targeting luxury western resorts, galleries, and designers who appreciate fine art with a connection to the natural world. I’m also working on a children’s book about wild horses, a project close to my heart that will hopefully inspire young readers to appreciate and protect these incredible animals.

Beyond that, I’m always looking for new ways to share my work, whether through exhibitions, collaborations, or even video content to capture the behind-the-scenes stories.
