Rising Stars: Meet Marisa Ripepi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisa Ripepi.

Marisa Ripepi

Hi Marisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I went to school for fashion merchandising and started educating myself on stylists’ sophomore year of college and fell in love with the process. I got an internship with celebrity stylist Tyler Lambert is LA junior year going into my senior year of college. After my internship, I came home and applied everything I learned, and started gaining my own clients.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think there is always ups and downs to anything you do. Some struggles were finding “celebs” to trust you. Especially when you don’t have a name for yourself yet, that can be super stressful. Being available and working 24/7 is also a struggle. I’ve gotten used to always being on call for my clients, but in the beginning, it was hard because I was still trying to understand the lifestyle of this career. It’s not just a job; it’s a whole business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a wardrobe stylist and personal shopper. Whether you want full looks head to toe or certain pieces to add to your wardrobe, I do it all. I specialize in it all. My main clientele is athletes, but I’ve worked with my clients’ gfs/wives, businessmen, influencers, and even my clients’ kids. I would say I’m known mostly for my work from my athlete clients, but I want to be known as the stylist who can do it all. I’m most proud of styling my client on the 49ers for the Super Bowl this year. We had a complete different vision than what he ended up wearing. We switched to doing a full custom suit in less than 2 weeks. I think what sets me apart is my clients and how I work, there is a big range of people I work with, I don’t just specialize in men, or even more specific, athletes. I’m also able to get anything done with any short amount of time. My clients know they can message me whenever, and no matter what the ask is, I can get it done.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t think this has anything to do with luck. If I sat around and didn’t do anything, my clients wouldn’t just have found me. It’s putting in a lot of hard work and always doing your research and figuring out what the next big thing is you’re going to do. When I first started building my brand, I remember I would wake up early every morning and try to make some type of connection with someone or a brand and would refuse to go to sleep until I did. I would be up till 2 AM every morning working until I felt satisfied. Being consist is the most important thing with anything you do.
