Rising Stars: Meet Maria De Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria De Los Angeles.

Hi Maria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Yeah! Well, it all started when I started taking acting classes at the age of eleven for fun. My mom always wanted us to be involved in some activities outside of school and I just naturally gravitated to acting classes. I did singing and swimming classes for a bit too, but ultimately I always gravitated towards acting. I was a SUPER shy kid though, like terribly shy but little by little I grew in confidence and took a big step by moving to LA to pursue acting!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all! I’ve had to face some obstacles along the way along some very late nights just to send in an audition. But ultimately, it’s all worth it. I love being on set and getting to meet new interesting people and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Of course! Well, something that sets me apart from the others is that I think outside the box and I would do things you would never think I would. Also, I was raised with 16 of my family members living in the same roof and we would always be together and sing and dance and have so much fun but it also it made me have a strong connection to my Mexican roots and who I am.

As far as projects go, I am playing the character of ‘Esperanza Galvez’ in Killer Siblings on the Oxygen Network on January 14. I am also having a few short films come out this year which I am really excited for!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Well, for starters. I am HUGE geek! I play the clarinet and was a marching band geek for several years and love keeping up with marching band competitions. I also love the Harry Potter and Marvel movies! I can talk about it for hours! But also I wrote my own Stand-Up! I started performing my own shows a little before the pandemic and I am currently working on new material!
