Rising Stars: Meet Marcello Reyes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcello Reyes. He and his team share their story with us below:

Marcello started acting at the age of three years old and was immediately signed by Hollywood Entertainment manager Victoria Mojica Monroe, of Monroe Talent Management Inc. It just so happens that Victoria Monroe is also Marcello’s cousin.

In 2017 at the age of four with the help of his manager, he took a meeting with Agent Rebecca Ek of Eris Talent Agency and in less than 24hrs Marcello signed with Eris Talent Agency.

He auditioned for a movie of the week for Hallmark and also one commercial and was placed on avail for both. (which is a hold when casting directors are interested) But did not get the role on either one.

Then, in the middle of July 2018 at the age of 4 1/2 Marcello went on an audition for ABC’s hit Mockumentary situation comedy show Modern Family. There were three more call-back auditions that preceded the first audition. Four days later, he found out that he landed the role of new family character Calhoun Johnson the son of Pameron and the nephew of Cameron and Mitchell. Marcello played the character of Calhoun Johnson for season 10.

Since wrapping his stint on Modern Family, Marcello can be seen on a National Buick commercial. During the Covid year 2020 Marcello landed the roles of “Stillwell Angel” in Amazon’s Pilot of “League Of Their Own” where he goes toe to toe with actress Abbi Jacobson. Also, in early December 2020 he played the character of “Fred” the son of Olivia Wilde’s character Mary in New Line Cinema’s phycological Thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” also starring Harry Styles, Florence Pugh and Chris Pine.

In late December 2020, he auditioned for a series regular role on FOX TV and Warner Bros Television new situation comedy “Pivoting”. After three intense network and studio auditions, he landed the role of Luke, son of Eliza Coupe’s character Amy, and also starring Ginnifer Goodwin, Maggie Q, Tommy Dewey and JT Neal. This is his first show to star in as a series regular and is under contract with Warner Bros Television.

Marcello also Hosts his own Adventure Show “Marcello Adventures” where he plays himself and takes viewers on fun kid adventures. And a side note “Marcello does have a legit IMDB writing credit for his show because he helps rewrite some of the scripts before he voices it.

Marcello has been playing baseball for four years now and is a yellow belt in Karate and he’s going on one year playing guitar.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far, it has been a smooth road for Marcello when it’s come to his abilities to act, listen and take direction.

If there is a struggle to mention, it would have to be the struggle his parents had getting Marcello to and from set when he was on Modern Family. Both of his parents work full time. His mother Vanessa Reyes is a 1st grade teacher for LAUSD’s Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Rockdale Elementary. And his dad Julian Reyes was the Traffic Producer for CBS2 News This Morning, but now he is a Content Creative Producer for several Southern California local companies.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Marcello is most proud of is being nominated at age five for a Young Artist Award for “Best Youth Guest Star” for his recurring role in Modern Family. Although he didn’t win the award, he was excited about being nominated.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Marcello loves living in the city of Los Angeles because there’s a lot of fun stuff to do. He loves hiking in the Pasadena foothills and going to Seal Beach, he loves going to Big Bear in the wintertime and loves frequenting the area parks being able to find places to ride his bike. He also loves trying different restaurants in search of various types of Mac-n-cheese and ice cream.

Marcello dislikes city traffic and loud noises that disrupt his sleep and relaxation.
