Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynette Aslanian.
Lynette, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started taking pictures when I was maybe 15 or 16… I picked up an old canon that was sitting around my house that my mom would use for birthdays. Started using that for a while. When my birthday came around and my mom asked me what I wanted, I said I wanted my own camera, specifically this canon rebel package on Amazon. She told me I could have the camera or a party, not both, and I happily declined the party offer. Over the years, I have collaborated on many different projects and am really grateful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am a relentless optimist, very okay with rejection while keeping a positive attitude. I see things that don’t work out as things that weren’t necessarily meant for me in the first place. Or maybe they would be meant for me later. Rejection is redirection. There was a point in time where I put my camera down and didn’t shoot for many months, but i always came back to it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a digital photographer and creative director. I really enjoy fashion and my portfolio has morphed into a fashion photography land. I’m still figuring everything out and growing along the way but I definitely specialize in portraits and fashion shoots. I also love to style clients that I work with. What sets me apart from others is probably my positive and excited demeanor, and I’m also just so happy to be there and love getting to know the person I’m shooting, I think that adds more to the pictures. When a person opens up and is comfortable, the photos mean more.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Hmm, I definitely think that I take risks often. I always am trying new things and experiment with different photography elements. I’m typically always thinking of new ideas and new concepts that will make someone think when seeing the image. I like it when there’s some kind of story.
