Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Medina
Hi Karen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The year was 2017 and beauty enthusiast were starting to express their love for all things beauty on the internet. I found this so amazing and it sparked something in me to do the same. Growing up, I didn’t feel that I was creative enough. So finding something that I enjoyed doing creatively meant a lot. I wasn’t the greatest at doing my makeup just yet, but somehow I believed I was so I wanted to show those who wanted to get into it my tips and tricks. So, I began to upload makeup tutorials on YouTube. At that time I was still in college completing my undergrad and I found it hard to balance creating content and doing school work. So I pretty much stopped creating content and said to myself once I graduate I’ll get back to it. But no matter what in the back of my head I knew what I truly wanted to do with my career and that was do something I loved doing while making a living out of it. The following year came around and I graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills ( GO TOROS!!) and the dream was still there. After graduation, I went through this period of what’s next, what should I do with my life, should I get a job with my degree, or follow my dreams? It was an interesting transition since all I’ve ever known was school and now I had to put myself into the real world and decide what was my next step going to be. I took the leap of faith and decided to go after my dreams. My family has always been very supportive of my choices so they told me to go for it. So I started posting makeup content on Instagram and here and there a bit of fashion. Even though I was posting I had this fear in me of what if this doesn’t work? I was very much sabotaging myself. So in a way, I wasn’t showing up as I wanted to because of that fear. It wasn’t until 2020 when the world became unknown to many of us and it gave me that push that I needed. So I decided that I was going to take my content to the next level. I said to myself if I want to make this a career I have to start acting like this is my job and show up as my best self. Fast forward to now, I’m so happy I took that leap of faith and went for it. I’ve been able to work with so many amazing brands including dream brands and even though I’m still not where I want to be. I am in the place I’ve always dreamt of.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has not been so smooth. But it is a part of chasing after one’s dreams. Nothing in life comes easy so struggles will always present themselves and when they do one has to know that it won’t last forever and better times will present themselves.
One of the struggles that I’ve faced along the way has been learning how to run my own business. In this kind of business, you don’t have anyone telling you what or how to do something. So at the beginning of my journey, it was a bit overwhelming because I didn’t know if I was doing the right thing or not. But the beauty of that was that with trial and error and learning how to do my research little by little I began to get the hang of it all. It gave me this sense of confidence that made me feel like “Okay girl, you got this! You’re a boss!

I am a content creator who focuses all all things beauty.
From makeup tutorials to reviews, and beauty tips and tricks I love sharing my passion for it all. I love creating how-to videos to help others with their makeup journey. As well as inspire them with the kind of looks I create so that they can feel confident themselves. At the end of the day, my main goal is for my audience to enjoy my content, learn something from it, and leave inspired that they can also do what I’m doing,
The thing that I’m most proud of is how much I’ve believed in myself. It hasn’t always been this way but to know that I making little old Karen proud by doing something I love and turning it into something more is beyond me.
I hope what sets me apart is being a go-getter going after what I want and never giving up. I want to prove to anyone that you can do whatever your heart desires as long as you believe in yourself. No dream is too big! The power is in yourself!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned along my journey is to simply believe in myself. As cliche as that sounds that is all it takes to truly make anything happen.
