Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Davis-Linton.
Hi Kaitlyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My mother was probably the first person who exposed me to modeling. She would take me along to several photoshoots. I learned a lot from how she carried herself, but I was never interested in modeling when I was younger. It was very tedious and time-consuming for me. As I grew older, I applied certain things to make modeling more enjoyable and less time-demanding. While keeping a positive attitude, I always kept my links open. By doing so, I was able to not only meet incredible individuals, but those fantastic people introduced me to even more amazing people, and the cycle continued indefinitely. Don’t misunderstand me. Even though this cycle was great, there were many challenges I had to overcome along the road.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Even if some say I make it appear that way, it hasn’t been a smooth path the entire time. Only a few individuals are aware of what I am going to reveal; therefore my willingness to share this with the rest of the world means a great deal to me. I have an autoimmune illness that makes life exceedingly difficult for me on a daily basis. Some days are spent in the hospital, while others are spent in bed, feeling terribly weak and in excruciating pain. I never wanted to publish something like this so early in my career since I didn’t want it to be perceived as a pass to allow me to have certain perks that others do not and therefore handicap myself. I wanted to be treated the same as someone who is healthy so that when I am doing well and have work under my belt, I can claim that I earned it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In terms of my work, I consider myself to be multi-talented. Of course, that sounds arrogant so I apologize. I don’t mean it in that kind of way. It’s just that people recognize me primarily as a fashion model, but I want everyone to understand that I am much more than that. I also work as a mentor for a non-profit that works with the Los Angeles Unified School District. I am most proud that it has not taken me a degree to reach as far as I have, but the reason I am in school is because I am incredibly enthusiastic about helping those around me. As a result, I chose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work. I believe that my kindness and desire to go out of my way to sincerely care for others and appreciate them as individuals, regardless of socioeconomic class, ethnicity, or religion, distinguishes me from others in my line of work.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The attributes I feel are most important to my success are creativity, self-discipline, optimism, compassion, confidence, and being an advocate for oneself when no one else can. That is because I believe that there are some attributes that will make you successful in any field. I observed that the qualities I already have contributed to my achievement. You will go further in the game if you already have things within yourself rather than needing to struggle to create specific things within yourself.
