Rising Stars: Meet Julius Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julius Taylor.

Hi Julius, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first started in the ring trying to go pro, then I ended up with two bad injuries. From there, I decided to train people myself because I felt I knew enough. My thing is I feel everyone should know how to defend themselves, because you never know what situation you will end up in. No, I am not trying to preach violence, but I do want people to walk around knowing that anyone just cant get the jump on them. I am where I’m at now in my life and with my business because working for others just never went well with me. If I’m working for you, I need your character and morals to have certain standards and I felt no one I worked for reached them, so that’s when I decided to be in charge of those standards and give people what I was looking for in a manager, supervisor or the owner of the company.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely had some challenges on the way, had to deal with changing the logo and name twice, getting merchandise out, and people trying to take advantage because they “know me.” Other than those certain situations, working for me has definitely been good to me and the ones I love.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When it comes to These Hands Work, I hold everything I do from the logo to how I treat someone and train someone to a high standard. Not one drill is rushed or not planned out. I am very detailed when it comes to my work because a bad habit in boxing can lead to many injuries. I think what sets me apart from others is my ability to be patient, to listen, to understand and to make everyone I come into counter with comfortable, from my kids to my adults. I am most proud of the ones who have trusted me to teach them, who come in here day in and day out and give me 100% even when they feel they don’t have it in them. I want the readers to know that this program is not to make you fight, it’s not going to make me just throw you on the bag and say go but to have fun, to learn, to grow new confidence you didn’t have before, and when the world seems too loud, that working with me you allow the outside noise to become still.

What were you like growing up?
I was always energetic, trying to make everyone laugh, smile and have a good time like I do now. Dancing was my outlet, mad, sad, happy, I danced. Outside of dance, I had sports that kept me busy for the most part.
