Rising Stars: Meet Juliette Vos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliette Vos.

Juliette Vos

Hi Juliette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In my voyage through life, especially during my 13-year tenure as a foreign exchange trader on Wall Street, I’ve found that risk is an integral part of who I am. It’s not just a facet of my career; it is a fundamental aspect of my identity. Beyond Wall Street, my journey led me to explore the realm of art, studying at Parson’s NY, Heatherly’s, London, Chelsea College of Art London, the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and Tulane. I had the honor of serving two terms as the Collections Chairperson of the Walter Anderson Museum of Art, deeply immersing myself in the world of art curation and heritage. Yet, it is the desert’s ethereal embrace and its abstract whispers that continue to define the canvas of my existence and artistic endeavors.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My move to Palm Springs embodies the ethos of risk-taking and transformation. Every step, from founding a gallery to immersing myself in the local art community and organizing events and exhibitions for causes that are more important than me, has been fueled by a readiness to face the unknown. It’s about stepping beyond the bounds of comfort, about pushing my limits and making informed yet audacious choices. In the realm of creativity, every endeavor represents a leap of faith. I believe that genuine innovation and artistic expression stem from a willingness to take risks, to challenge the norms, and to break free from conventional boundaries. Around seven years ago, when I was diagnosed with a rare form of terminal cancer, I made the decision to take another risk. I opted for an unconventional approach, steering clear of traditional chemotherapy or radiation. Instead, I embraced alternative therapies and became a Reiki master, this meditation practice is complemented by a strong focus on diet, exercise, full-spectrum cannabis oil, and the transformative aura of the desert. My journey became a beacon of hope, inspiring a study in the Netherlands.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I continuously explore various supports and mediums, and my peripatetic creativity is likely influenced by my surroundings, both past and present. Themes such as the desert, the cosmos, life, and our human experience are recurring subjects in my artistic exploration.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m embarking on an exploratory journey utilizing materials found in the desert to create expansive installations that mirror the path I tread through the desert. I am also expanding my gallery to include artists who have a genuine, authentic approach to their art.
