Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Beltran
Hi Juliana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Colombia, a beautiful, musical and vibrant country. Ever since I have memory, I’ve been an artist. I would dance and sing and mimic any sounds I’d hear around the house.
I started writing my own songs at age eleven and there was no turning back. I knew music was my life purpose and has been ever since.
I was lucky enough to move here to Los Angeles to pursue my dream.
It’s been a challenging few years but there is nothing more rewarding than doing what you love. I’ve found incredible people that support me and trust me and my gift.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think anyone in the entertainment industry can say that it’s the most treacherous of the roads. I’ve been disappointed, let down, discouraged but I always get back up.
LA can be a lonely city but I am constantly reminded that I’m not alone.
There are so many other creatives out here that are willing to lend a hand or an ear whenever is needed.
I think we all have this image in our minds of what it looks like to “make it”. It can be really tricky to see that not happening as smoothly or quickly as I wanted.
But I have made it. I am here, pursuing my dream and making music that comes from my soul.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer-songwriter. I write about life, love and everything in between. I try and mix and match genres in my music. I love jazz, r&b, rock and pop. There’s so much joy in seeing a song come to life from the writing process to a stage.
I’m proud to be an honest writer, I dig deep into my feelings and lay it all out at the microphone. I’m proud to show up for myself and my dream, for not giving up even when it seems impossible.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve always been on the sensitive side, a bit shy yet curious.
I loved (and still do) animals and nature. I grew up with dogs and I can’t wait to have one of my own.
Any time I could get my hands on something creative I would drop everything for it. I loved to paint, draw, sing, dance and act.
I think I still have a lot of those qualities and I work hard on not letting that inner child go too far.
