Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Taylor.
Hi Joy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started at Barry University studying Broadcast Journalism and working at the student radio station. I also interned for several radio stations in the South Florida market. I started in the business as a part-time producer at 560 WQAM and eventually moved over to 790 The Ticket as the executive producer at the morning show. I then got an opportunity to join the show as the host and hosted the Zaslow & Joy Show mornings in Miami for several years. I also worked as a host for CBSSports.com during my time in Miami. In 2016, I joined FS1 and moved to Los Angeles. I was a moderator of Undisputed for two years before moving across the studio to co-host The Herd with Colin Cowherd. In the fall of 2021, I launched the Joy Taylor Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My time in Los Angeles has been a massive growth and learning experience for me. I’ve gone through a lot of personal and professional changes over my six years here. I also moved to LA not knowing a single person in this city, so I had to not only adjust to a new city, culture and job but also find a new circle.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I host sports opinion shows which give me the opportunity to react daily to news and games and express my opinions about topics I’m extremely passionate about.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking and finding mentors is very important for my particular field of work. It is important to ask questions, take advice, apply feedback, and make sure that the people around you know what your goals are in the business. My advice for networking would be to actively seek out events, groups, and opportunities to meet and connect with people in the business. My advice for finding a mentor would be to reach out to people who are in positions you would eventually like to get to.
