Rising Stars: Meet Jessica Guadarrama of Long Beach ca.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Guadarrama

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Jessica Marquez Guadarrama, 2nd generation Mexican American. My heritage, love for my culture and our strong family values, has empowered who I am today. From a very young age I had a love for beauty and fashion. During my 19 years in the beauty industry my second passion came to life. Spirituality. I learned about meditation, reiki, crystals, tarot and mediums. But the catholic side of me had doubt and fear. What would my parents and friends think. This is witchcraft. I’m going to hell for believing in anything other than God. My fertility challenges made me doubt God and question his greatness. I was angry at Him, so much that it pushed me into spirituality. With fear of judgment from family and friends, I started practicing in silence for many years. But not anymore. My life challenges have empowered me and pushed me to start showing the world who I truly am. Now during the healing process of 7 failed pregnancies, I was guided to create something different for women that have had a similar experience as me.
Madre mágica is a small family own business. Created at home by my husband, son and myself. Our products are created with lots of love and magic. We want our products to help you during your life journey and be a light in your time of darkness. In my darkest hour all I ever wanted was hope, and reassurance that I wasn’t crazy for fighting so hard to create my deepest desire. Whatever you believe in, whatever your higher power is I just want Madre Mágica to be a light of guidance in your journey. Madre is to give life. Life to a new project, an idea, a dream or even life to fur babies, whatever your meaning of life is to you. It doesn’t have to only be with motherhood. Madre Mágica is planting seeds of hope, faith, reassurance, resilience and strength all with the intent to motivate women to create.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all—but that’s where the magic happens, right? Starting Madre Mágica has been a beautiful but challenging journey. Hand-pouring candles with love, intention, and purpose takes time, and balancing the creative process with the business side hasn’t always been easy. There were moments of self-doubt, sourcing quality ingredients that aligned with my values, and learning how to share my vision in a way that truly resonated with others. But every challenge became a lesson, and every lesson added another layer of intention to my craft. Madre Mágica was born from love and magic, and those roots keep me grounded, even when the road gets bumpy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Madre Mágica, I hand-pour candles that are more than just beautiful pieces for your home—they are intentional tools for self-care, manifestation, and magic. Each candle is crafted with love, purpose, and energy, using high-quality ingredients like natural coconut wax, clean fragrances, and ethically sourced crystals and herbs. I infuse every candle with intentions, whether it’s love, protection, abundance, or clarity, so when someone lights it, they’re not just enjoying a candle—they’re activating a little ritual for themselves.

What I’m most proud of is the connection people feel when they use my candles. Hearing someone say that lighting their Madre Mágica candle became part of their morning ritual or helped them set intentions during a difficult time is everything to me. It’s a reminder that this work matters.

What sets Madre Mágica apart is the energy and love behind every candle. They are a representation of me and the love of my Mexican culture. These aren’t mass-produced; they’re hand-poured in small batches with a deep respect for tradition, spirituality, and the power of intention. I believe that when you pour love and magic into something, people can feel it—and that’s what makes Madre Mágica special.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Intention—without a doubt. Everything I create at Madre Mágica begins with clear, heartfelt intention. Whether I’m blending scents, choosing crystals, or pouring the wax, I’m always focused on the energy and purpose behind each candle. I truly believe people can feel that intention when they light one of my candles—it creates a connection, a sense of ritual, and a little bit of magic in their space.

Beyond that, authenticity has been key. Staying true to my values, honoring the spiritual and cultural roots that inspire Madre Mágica, and creating with love rather than rushing the process has made all the difference. It’s not just about making candles; it’s about holding space for others to slow down, reflect, and invite a little more light into their lives.
