Rising Stars: Meet Jermaine Edmondson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Edmondson.

Hi Jermaine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Canton, Ohio and raised in Stockton, California. After I made the decision to stop playing professional football, I finally decided to leave everything behind and move to Los Angeles to pursue my passion in acting.

Which brings us to the present. I get goosebumps thinking back on everything and I have moments of fulfillment because it was the best decision I ever made. Los Angeles truly is the city of endless opportunities, and no dream is ever too small to be here. From being casted in well-known shows like All-American and The Price is Right. To signing with one of the best agencies in Hollywood. This is only the beginning of my new career. My goal is to inspire, educate, and entertain people through my art. I think the ultimate goal for everyone is going to work.. and it does not feel like work because you are excited to be there. That’s what I found in acting.

I am the oldest of 13 siblings which made me learn leading qualities at a very young age and taught me that with leadership comes a lot of responsibility. Success IS responsibility. I want to be the example for younger generations to never give up on their dreams. With that being said… my name is Jermaine Edmondson… Actor, Athlete, Influencer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A favorite quote of mine is “If it were easy.. Everybody would do it.” My former mentor Ike Taylor told me this while I was training with him in Florida back in 2015. This is a quote that has stuck with me every day since then.

Struggles and obstacles are called just that for a reason. They aren’t meant to be smooth and easy… But instead, they challenge us and teach us lessons. That is what life is about and that is why there is beauty in the struggle. When you make life-changing decisions and sacrifices for personal growth, the road will seem a little rocky at first but it would be worth it.

Some challenges and struggles I faced when I moved to LA was adjusting to the lifestyle and trusting the right people. I also had the realization that there are thousands of people just like me who moved to Los Angeles to pursue their careers in the entertainment industry. In order to stand out, I worked on my personal brand and improved my special skills to further myself in my profession every day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main focus at the moment is expanding my knowledge with my acting career. The steps that I am taking for that is submitting for auditions consistently, keeping my headshots up to date, and attending acting classes on a weekly basis. I feel like these three steps alone will help separate myself from others in the industry,

For a long time, I was known for playing football and attending Michigan State University which inspired my drive and determination in the acting field. Playing sports gave birth to the competitor that I am today and when it comes to preparing for a role I do whatever it takes to bring the director’s vision to light. I prepare every day like it’s game day…

What sets me apart from others is my special skills. Being able to have a wide range of abilities such as athletics, screenwriting, coaching, acting, and hospitality will take me a long way in my career.

Something that I am most proud of is the person that I have become this past year. From taking the huge leap of faith in moving to Los Angeles to pursue a new career not knowing what to expect. To the many doors that have been opened and meeting so many great people along the way. It is now up to me to reach my full potential and leave a legacy.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Some things that surprised people about me is that I was a contestant on the famous game show “The Price Is Right” and I won over 7 thousand dollars in prizes! Along with spinning the wheel… This was a really cool experience at CBS studios.
