Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Cole.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After graduating from college, I took a summer trip to Europe and fell so deeply in love with traveling that I knew that I wanted my life and career to revolve around seeing the world. I came home, took some travel classes, landed an internship and I’ve been working as a travel advisor ever since. I started blogging and posting on Instagram back in 2012 to share about my adventures and to inspire other people to travel as a way to open their minds to new cultures, people and places. I truly believe that travel is the one thing that really brings us together. When the pandemic hit and we were all forced to stay closer to home, I took the opportunity to explore places around me and fell even more in love with my city of Los Angeles. There are so many things to see and do right around us and I’m so happy to be able to share my love for those things and hopefully inspire others to get out there and explore.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No! I don’t think any journey worth taking is ever on a smooth road. I’ve built up a loyal client base in the travel industry and have been lucky to see so many amazing places (50 countries and counting), but the past two years have proven to be the toughest in our industry thanks to never ending cancellations, changes, and protocols from Covid. Financially this has been the worst two years of my career, but at the same time, it’s also given us a chance to share why booking travel with a professional is so worth it, to have an advocate on your side to handle all the hoops you have to jump through right now to go anywhere. The hurdles have made me better at what I do. Not that I’m not ready for this to get better, it’s been exhausting!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work for a travel agency that’s been in business for over 30 years. I specialize mainly in Australia, Africa and European travel, but between myself and my colleagues, we’ve traveled the entire world. I’m most proud of my travel expertise and dedication to my clients. I know travel because I’ve traveled, I love doing research and I have the ability to connect with people to help plan their dream vacations. This is my dream job and I love what I do. I love curating unique experiences for clients and also for myself, and I hope that love shows through in the photos and videos I share on social media.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I have always been a HUGE introvert. My childhood was happiest in a library buried deep in a pile of books or riding my bike as far as my parents would let me, conjuring up new adventures to go on. I’ve always gotten lost in stories and movies of faraway places, so it’s no wonder I quickly developed a love for travel from an early age. As an adult, I’m still happiest with a small, close group of friends over a large crowd of strangers any day, but finding like-minded people through social media, specifically Instagram has opened up a world of possibilities for me that I’m eternally grateful for.
