Rising Stars: Meet Jannel Rap

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jannel Rap.

Jannel Rap

Hi Jannel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My first performance was when I was 3 years old for a church Christmas Program. In that moment, I knew that I would use music to help people. When I was eight years old, I learned 4 chords on the piano and realized I could write, play, and sing songs with that knowledge. The singer-songwriter in me was born. The dedication to my 3-year-old pledge stayed strong; if I was going to write a song, it needed to have a lesson to uplift.

Surprisingly, that original inspiration has been a thread throughout my life. Am I perfect at it, no…still practicing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been rocky, with many potholes along the way. I have had very little support for my “mission.” Spurts of support have shown up from time to time, but mostly, I have felt like the “Lone Ranger.” Whether I was or not is not the thing to focus on here, but it was my perception.

Due to my perception of no support, I have felt inclined to be a supporter of the dream of the dreamers. I have been teaching music lessons for many years, and this has given me the desire and ability to believe in other dreamers. I do not want those I encounter to perceive or feel what I did. I want their dreams to fly.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in supporting aspiring singer-songwriters, original bands, and composers to acquire the skills to move forward with their dreams.

I have accumulated a network of support staff in a variety of fields in the entertainment industry.

I am still that 3-year-old girl with a dream to make a difference by utilizing music. Whether I am writing, performing, teaching, or a guest speaker, that 3-year-old is guiding me.

Honestly, until you asked me these questions, my trajectory has not felt this clear. I knew it was there but getting it all down here is a profound moment for me. My hope is that there is at least one reader with a dream they now realize has been there all along.

There is no competition for where you are supposed to be in this moment. Keep your dream alive. Your dream matters, or you would not have been gifted it.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Find one thing you can focus on and stick with it. You will find success there. If you don’t have a clear career path, find a simple belief or philosophy, and the career will eventually appear. Be open to the possibilities. It may not be what you think.
