Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Tang.
Hi Jade, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It has been quite a journey. I immigrated to the U.S. in the summer of 2004 with a dream to do what I love and would get excited to wake up to everyday. My aunt saw my artistic background and asked me a simple question that changed my career “Have you drawn and created art on tiny canvases before?” She proceeded to introduce me to a local nail school where I pursued my nail license a few months later.
I chose to become a Nail Artist because it gave me the freedom to share my artistic passion, not on one big canvas, but ten tiny canvases, regularly.
I become one of a few known sculpture nail artists in California where my unique clientele is willing to travel hours and top prices for a “perfect set of nails” inspired by life, fashion, pop culture, and magazines.
Today, with over 15 nail certifications from reputable nail companies and 15 years in the nail industry, and a complimentary title “Nail Queen” by peers, I’m grateful for my creative career.
After many brand partnerships and product sponsorships since I’ve been a Nail Artist, I fulfilled my dream and founded The Imperial Room. A boutique of luxurious and quality nail mastery tools and place where I can help empower fellow nail artists to dream bigger and maximize their potential and earning.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
After being licensed early in my career, I figured out quickly that regular nail schools were not really teaching me everything it takes to master my craft. They only teach the very basics and my training there was not enough to hone my skills and maximize my earning potential.
I craved knowledge but had no direction at the time as a new graduate. I made a decision to learn on my own while also researching and taking more classes to elevate my artistry and technical abilities. I also sought out quality-driven nail salons, took on private clients, worked long hours until 2:00 AM, and practiced daily even on days off.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an active Master Nail Artist. I am licensed and specialize in sculpture nails and freestyle hand-painted art. I am proud to have built a business from very humble beginnings to living my American Dream. I love my loyal clientele who’s stayed with me throughout the years and their continued support.
What sets me apart as a Nail Artist is my drive to provide high-quality service and nail artistry by creating and curating my own quality tools and products. The Imperial Room’s nail kits and tools are loved by fellow nail artists and clients alike.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My growth journey includes many people who deserve credit including my clients, colleagues, and family – who are my biggest supporters till this day. My husband in particular shows me unconditionally love and support.
Jimmy listens, helps, and finds solutions when I need him most. He believes in my vision and goals as much as I do. With my husband by my side for the last five years, I was able to make my dream a reality, turning my passion for nail artistry into a thriving business and creating my own product line.
