Rising Stars: Meet Jacquelynn Remery-Pearson of Glendale/Burbank

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelynn Remery-Pearson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been an attorney for 13 years, licensed first in California, then New York then Massachusetts. I had originally wanted to work in sports and entertainment law, and did a one-year sports business program at NYU after law school. When I returned back from New York, I started working for my dad’s firm which focuses on trusts and estates creation and litigation. During my years here I have focused on estate plans for young families and based on those families’ needs I have expanded to include copyright, trademark and ultra low budget film legal work. After the birth of my eldest in 2015, I joined a local mother’s group and that winter there were a ton of requests for aid for gifts so I got together with my high school friend, Ashley Erikson-Gogerty, and we created the Burbank Family Give Back program, which is essentially an angel tree donation program for and supported by moms in and around Burbank. In 2023, one of my best friends, Colleen, and I started creating content for indie romance authors and within a year had expanded that into a business and then launched an online store with bookish merchandise. In the summer of 2025, inspired by my eldest’s daughters’ leap into acting in vertical dramas, I decided to write my own which could feature her and her best friend as a strong supporting characters but would balk at the traditional violence and formula of vertical dramas. We moved pretty quickly and as of November 2025, it is in post-production.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where we are now has been a rollercoaster. I have always struggled with depression and (late diagnosed) ADHD which impact my ability to manage my time, wallet and mood appropriately. To overcome those I tend to add too much to my plate and then I, inevitably, crash. I am so unbelievably fortunate that I have the world’s most supportive family. My brother-in-law, who works at our firm, helps me cart around the kids to their million activities, and when I over-volunteer and need assistance he’s the first on the scene, followed closely by my parents. I direct my daughters’ school play and it is consistently my brother-in-law, sister, mom and dad who are my biggest cheerleaders and physical support. My husband also has the unenviable job of dealing with my impulsiveness and ADHD fueled quests, and often it is his credit score that enables such visions to come to life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think the thing I am most proud of is the film I wrote and executive produced, The Baby Clause, and the Burbank Family Give Back. The film is so special to me because the underlying premise (the idea of a woman being done with love and just wanting to be a mom) was based on an actual conversation I had with my then-roommate and current script consultant, Jaclyn. After writing the initial screenplay as a short film, Colleen and I started interviewing production companies and casting the film. Once we found the perfect production company, Young One Studios Production, and casted a flawless cast, we dove in. Because this entire film was self-funded by myself and my husband (with a very small amount from Kickstarter) we had to shoot 82 pages in 7 and a half days. Miraculously, the cast and crew did it with an incredible energy I can’t explain. The days were long and I can’t tell you how much time I spent on my hands and knees cleaning floors in between takes or after we wrapped for the day but I have never felt so fulfilled in my life.
The Burbank Family Give Back is also something I am so incredibly proud of. Ashley and I have been doing this for about 9 years, but last year (2024) was by far our biggest. We had over 110 kids and 60 families that received Christmas gifts because the incredible families in Burbank banded together to donate. Ashley and I spend most of November and December creating spreadsheets, wrapping gifts and driving around dropping off the gifts. This project makes me so happy because there is nothing like seeing my entire living room so full with gifts I can’t even see the floor and understanding just how many people that’s going to help and how many people look at a list of needy children and say “absolutely not on my watch” and step up in big amazing ways. In a time when humanity is sometimes hard to see having such a stark image of it fills my soul.

How do you define success?
Success is having comfort in your direction.
