Today we’d like to introduce you to J.N. Gould.
Hi J.N., it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It’s a story, going from welding in my dad’s shop to being an attorney for heavy industrial clients, to where I am now as an award winning actor, writer, and producer. When I look back, I can just say its been a lot of fun.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Was the road smooth? No. But it was blessed. At 35, I’ve learned that the struggles were never struggles, but opportunities from God to become who he wanted me to be. I’m not there yet, but I’m closer everyday. And that’s a miracle in and of itself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So I specialize in writing and acting. There, I’m known for character-driven stories exploring themes of redemption, humor in the unexpected, and hope. I’m most proud of two things: (1) having worked with great people to finish (nearly) my first three short films (one, LA 716, is just moving through the final steps of post now) and (2) my pilot script Horsemen…one that few people have read yet but it’s a story that I think is unique to my voice (a story about the four horsemen of the apocalypse exploring failure, redemption, the meaning of life, and survival).
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality is determination. A little cliche, but the business of Hollywood is one of determination. You have to be a little delusional, a little obsessed, and a little bit of a dreamer. You have to be determined to make it work. And I am.
