Today we’d like to introduce you to Iyanna Dunn.
Iyanna Dunn Former child actress, navy veteran turned social media influencer? Yes, it can be done..and it has. Iyanna Dunn is originally from New Jersey but was stationed in San Diego, shortly after joining the military. After being honorably discharged in 2017, she went back to university where she studied communications/business and media. While acclimating back into society, she dug a little deeper into self and rediscovered her passion to be in front of a camera. Flashback to 1998 where Iyanna starred in her own Nickelodeon children’s series (1998-2002) called Abby’s Friends. The show was based around a little girl and her talking puppets. These days, you can find her on all social media platforms not talking to puppets, unfortunately… But giving words of encouragement, sharing the latest fashion or wellness trend, and overall hoping to inspire others to live their best life! I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In regard to setbacks, I try to look at them from a higher perspective. Of course, it’s not easy when you’re going through these challenges… However, you gotta realize that your timing is your timing! Simply meaning divine re-direction is divine protection! There were so many brands coming up that did not want to partner with me or even some brands today that do not want to pay hard-working content creators to promote their content. A lot of the time, I realize, in hindsight that it just was not meant to be or did not align and that’s ok.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m not sure how “known” I am just yet because as you level up, you surpass your goals… then your goals get bigger and bigger. But I can honestly say that through my content, I inspire people. I make people interested in what I’m buying, eating or doing, and that’s pretty cool! What I would definitely say that I am most proud of is going from military veteran to lifestyle influencer and building my own brand. What sets me apart from others is that I am self-made. Meaning that I worked hard and made the right connections to get to where I am now! It’s very self-rewarding, especially in a society that prefers instant gratification. Yes, my journey may have taken a little longer, but the journey is all mine.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During that moment in time, a lot of people were having their own awakenings and getting more in touch with their selves, however me, on the other hand, I was already submerged into self-love, self-care, and taking the time for me. It actually made me feel really good to recognize how significant my spiritual journey was, and I was glad that I really was on the journey before the pandemic struck and really forced people to look inside themselves.
