Today we’d like to introduce you to Iván Emilio.
Hi Iván, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a host, actor and social media content creator. It all started when I went to Full Sail University to study Media Communications and the growth of Youtube and the social media influencer world was starting. I knew that I had to hop on that and use the skills I learned in college. So while still at school, I started my youtube channel which served as more of a playground for me to practice my video hosting, filming and editing skills. It was also very fun for my friends and I. I l also interned for a morning news show. After graduating, I applied for a BuzzFeed internship three times. After the third time, I got accepted. And the rest is history!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. But it also hasn’t been bad. It’s been challenging, but every goal brings new challenges and moments of uncertainty. But those moments always help me get to the next step in my career. Starting as an intern and moving to a new city not really knowing if the “job” is gonna last, can be very scary. But it is needed to be done in order to find out if it’s gonna work out.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a host, I am constantly interviewing celebrities at press junkets, premieres, events and doing fun videos with them. I don’t like just doing a straightforward interview. I always love to give it a spin. I’ve also hosted shows for Apple Music, Telemundo, ESPN Deportes, Hasbro and BuzzFeed. Currently, I’m still a personality for Pero Like, BuzzFeed’s iconic Latinx brand. For that brand I also serve as a content creator, producing brand-new videos every week. With these opportunities, I’ve gotten great social media exposure, in which led me to become a social media influencer. Some major brands I’ve worked with are Pepsi, Mcdonalds, Uniqlo, and Buchanan’s, among others. As if all of this is not enough, I’m an actor as well who is constantly auditioning and taking classes to better my craft.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve been very blessed with the opportunities life has presented. But I’m also a true believer that hard work pays off. And if you are constantly working hard to get something or get somewhere, eventually, life is going to grant you that wish.
